What the Nation is saying about Hot Dixie Chick...

Family gatherings are usually full of embarrassing stories, tiny arguments and cheek pinching but my latest family gathering had none of those things. Ok, it may not have been a family gathering I was actually attending, but it felt like I was with family and close friends. Yesterday, Tuesday July 1...Read More

  • ScottDick · How awesome was she up close and personal? Loved your piece! How classy are the Rachel fans? When I went to see Curlin I noticed a bunch of people hogging and even arguing over how much time they got with him. None of that with us! · 203 days ago ·

  • RaTalk_Girl · It was the most amazing experience and I am so glad that the fans got to share the experience together. I have always had high respect for the Rachel fans; I have seen their class shine through many times. And Curlin, how exciting! I would love the chance to see him. I was not a follower of racing when he raced so I missed out on a great era. The next horse I would like to meet though is Blame, he is in my top 3 favorites. · 203 days ago ·

The Martin Racing Stable and Dan Morgan’s Dubai Majesty swept past favored Hot Dixie Chick on the far turn and cruised to an authoritative 4 ½-length victory over Secret Gypsy in the seventh running of the $110,500 Winning Colors (Grade III) for fillies and mares on Monday at Churchill Downs.  ...Read More
Hot Dixie Chick will be facing older fillies and mares for the first time when she starts Monday in the Grade 3, $100,000 Winning Colors Stakes at Churchill Downs. The 3-year-old Hot Dixie Chick was one of the most precocious fillies in her class, winning the Grade 3 Schuylerville and Grade 1 Spinaw...Read More

  • medlocke · Informed Decision looked to me like a mare that had a little bit of lay-off rust in losing her first start of 2010 at Keenland in the Vinery Madison Stakes. Informed Decision had been undefeated over synthetic surfaces until her recent 3rd place finish. But she's one of those rare one's that can perform equally well over a conventional dirt surface as well. She won the 09' Human Distaff in the slop at Churchill Downs, if you'll remember. A lot of horses are slow starters after a lay-off. Gio Ponti springs to mind, losing his first start of 2010 at Tampa Bay Downs to Karelian. But came back in his second start to run an amazing Dubai World Cup, finishing 4th, but having to go extremely wide to get that. So it was a very quality run for him. I expect Informed Decision to bounce back with a win on Derby day. IMO. · 645 days ago ·

Is there any chance that this filly is being considered for the 2010 Kentucky Oaks? 4 straight wins and 4 for 5 lifetime with one place effort is pretty strong. I'd be surprised if Asmussen didn't enter her in the Oaks this year.
  • gardenesque1 · Nice to see Hot Dixie Chick back in action. According to DRF article, Asmussen said next-race plans for Hot Dixie Chick will be determined after he speaks with Barbara Banke of Grace Stables and her husband, Jess Jackson. · 682 days ago ·

Hot Dixie Chick, the 1-to-5 favorite, did not disappoint her supporters on Saturday as she drew away from five opponents under a hand ride by jockey Robby Albarado for a 5 ¾-length victory in the $60,000 Prima Donna Stakes at Oaklawn Park. The Prima Donna was a sparkling return to the races for the ...Read More

“With the close of each racing year comes the interesting problem of the best horse…In past years this was much easier than it is in the present. Today commercialism cuts an important figure, crowding old-fashioned ‘sportsmanship’ to the wall. Horses are no longer raced purely as ‘sport’ much as we ...Read More
On a recent Steve Haskin Bloodhorse article titled "Rachel 'Doing Great,' Ships to Ky. Tuesday", assistant trainer Scott Blasi said that Spinaway (gr. I) winner Hot Dixie Chick will be given some time off and probably will start back at the end of November at Fair Grounds.
No doubt, this 2 yr.old filly is the cream of the juvenile filly crop. And her half-brother, Dixie Band, may be the cream of the 2 yr.old crop for juvenile males. Dixie Union's got to be awfully proud of these two kids.
Rachel Alexandra is enjoying her well-deserved vacation at Saratoga following an arduous and ambitious campaign that culminated with a memorable victory over older males in the Woodward Stakes (gr. I). The daughter of Medaglia d'Oro will ship back to Churchill Downs on Tuesday, Oct. 6.Read More
