What the Nation is saying about Homeboykris...

It's a shame how far he has fallen. From G1 winner to claimer.
Silverton Hill LLC’s Havelock made a three-wide rally in the stretch to edge favored Country Day at the wire in the $100,000 Arlington Sprint on Saturday at Arlington Park.  With Jermaine Bridgmohan aboard, the Darrin Miller-trained son of Great Notion covered the 5 ½ furlongs over firm turf in...Read More

Taking nothing away from Super Saver, who ran a terrific race to win the Kentucky Derby, but he wasn't the best horse Saturday at Churchill Downs. In defeat, Ice Box turned in one of the more remarkable losing efforts in Derby history and lost only because he was very unlucky. With a 20-horse field,...Read More
  • humphrey · ONE of these days, BUT I DOUBT IT, people are going to learn that horse up closer to the pace that last (no matter how visually underwhelming) are much much more often having their picture taken than these cloud closers, HISTORICALLY deep closers never win their fair share of the races in which they continually make these big moves.. · 742 days ago ·

Up — TV ratings: The Derby overnights were the best they had been since 1992, the year Lil E. Tee won the Run for the Roses. Not sure the reason for the increase, especially considering the expected favorite, Eskendereya, dropped out the weekend before with an injury. Nevertheless, the numbers bear ...Read More

Although Joe Torre's horse, Homeboykris, finished a forgettable 16th in Saturday's Kentucky Derby, the Dodgers' manager said a few minutes after the race that the experience was anything but forgettable."This was fun," Torre said. According to Weather.Com there is an 80% chance of precipitation on Saturday at Churchill Downs. The post positions have been drawn for the 2010 Kentucky Derby and the two favorites took the worst of it. Lookin At Lucky will break from the dreaded rail post and has been installed as the 3-1 morning line favorite. The Bob Baffert trainee is exiting a troubled 3rd in the Santa Anita Derby and mus...Read More

  • mdracing69 · Where they leave the gate is not as important as how they break. Numerous things can happen to any entrant from any post at the break and/or during the race in a 20-horse field. A horse can draw a perfect post but a stumbling start can blow his/her perceived advantage. A horse can break sideways and wipe out other entrants. 'Lucky and 'Sidney are seemingly the two best horses and either can win from anywhere if they get the right trips. You have to be lucky and good to win the Derby. · 749 days ago ·

  • medlocke · I really think that Sidney's Candy is big enough, strong enough, and fast enough to compensate for having the #20 post position. Similar to how Big Brown was in the 2008 Derby. I think he'll break quickly and smartly, and slide over out front, ahead of the field. If he's able to do that, then it just becomes about whether or not he has the stamina at 1-1/4 to hold off the rest of the Kentucky Derby field. My one and only concern about Sidney's Candy is the conventional dirt question? Will his synthetic form translate that effectively to dirt? If it does, I think he'll be the horse to beat, with Eskendereya out of the Derby picture. Because it certainly didn't appear watching Sidney's Candy in the Santa Anita Derby that having to travel another 1/8 mile is going to be a problem for him. JMO. · 748 days ago ·
