What the Horse Racing Nation is saying about Holy Bull...

Sorry, but if you say Groundhog Day to me, I think of the 1993 Harold Ramis film titled the same, starring Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell, way before I think of the chubby rodent from somewhere in Pennsylvania. I like movies, what can I say. If you’ve never seen it, by all means rent it and hunker ...Read More

Monmouth Park’s biggest day of the year is the Haskell. There is great racing and a really big crowd. A lot of the crowd comes to increase their collection of racing memorabilia with the traditional Haskell Hat giveaway. Monmouth has been giving hats away since at least 1988.Read More

  • 12thCrown · Good stuff - Every time we move my wife "asks" that I consolidate my # of boxes. I'm 38 (born in the year of the great horse) and started collecting around 1990 with Lil E. After her neck winning thriller over Theyskens’ Theory in Saturday’s Garden City Stakes (Gr. I), I began to ponder about all of the grey and roan thoroughbreds out there today. • LAZMANICK · DeadHeat……….I’m not trying to argue with you and I’m no saying that you commented one way or another. I just wondered if you had ever heard of anyone calling the Travers Saratoga’s signature race. Regarding the fields for the Haskell. They seem to be getting deeper with talent in the past few years than they used to be and I think that one reason is the 9F distance. I also agree with Mike that the Travers is the greatest race for three year olds outside the Triple Crown. The Haskell to me has always been like a Blue Grass or a Florida Derby or a Wood Memorial, a top G1, but not on the same level as the TC races and the Travers. · 195 days ago ·

  • DeadHeat · I have heard it called that and I most certainly believe in that name. However, I would disagree with you on the level of the Haskell. I would actually liken it to the Preakness, the baby child when standing next to the Derby which has so much age and prestige. While it still draws some wonderful deep and talented fields, it in no way can be called equal to the Derby. · 195 days ago ·
