Older Comments about Hawkster...

he was better than secretariat at 1.5 mile
  • travel_vic · this world record setter had the benefit of a special nylon netting in the subsurface of the grass to aid that time record. NOTHING like the timeless record setting champ · 845 days ago
  • LAZMANNICK · I guess that must mean that John Henry was better than Secretariat at 12F too as five times he ran 12F and won in 2.24 or better with his best being 2.23. IT’s ironic though, all those fast races, including Hawkster’s world record, were recorded at the speedway turf at Santa Anita in the 80’s. · 845 days ago
Holds the WR for 12f at 2:22 4/5

  • travel_vic · A sprinter at Turf Paradise or old Longacres very quick time were more a matter of the course than the horse. Same horse runs at laurel or the Fair Grounds and the times are nowhere near the same. · 1695 days ago
  • travel_vic · a record of 22: 6-3-4 does not denote excellence just competence · 1695 days ago
