i know TrueNicks ratings don't mean everything, but she is rated a D with Tapit? there are just as good stallions she could be sent to that fit her better. am I missing something?

  • AmbitiousD · TrueNicks seems like an interesting method of evaluation. It basically "correlates" the number of stakes winners to sire/broodmare sire lines. A lower grade mating does not mean the foal will be bad, it just means it will not likely follow the patterns predicted by TrueNicks' database. I am of the sort to breed the best to best and cross your fingers.   • kay.robinett · In breeding both Zenny and HDG to Tapit, their connections are shooting for the moon. They are trying for the complete package - the speed and precocity of Tapit combined with the soundness (Zenyatta and Grace both raced at the top level through multiple seasons even though Grace was retired due to an injury) and stamina of the dams. Odds are that this will not work, but if it does, the resulting foals will be outstanding. · 149 days ago ·

  • buds · I really dont see the logic in comparing horses from different seasons. If the BEST horse in a particular year wins 3 Graded stakes, (or whatever BCC, derby, etc) and thats beter than everyone else then that horse is the BEST then they earned it, period. If in another year a horse has 6 Graded wins and that is the BEST, then that horse deserves HOY, period. Wise Dan should be hands down, HOY. Followed closely by Little Mike and Royal Delta. As selfish as I am going to sound, I was pretty relieved when she wasn't going to be sold to Japan. We already sold 4 or 5 top mares to the Yoshidas today...and I am pretty glad that she wasn't one of them. Although those purchases are simply the US's loss and Japans gain.

  • travel_vic · Early/late balance numbers relate to energy distribution changes and the track can or cannot add to those. It is usually easy to tell, using them, when material has been added to the track, it is packed down, or dug up deeply. Del Mar and Keeneland do not show that consistency the way that Turfway, Arlington and Woodbine do. She might bring more dollars; it's possible, but I've said this before, Royal Delta's bargain price was due to her pedigree, which is considered one of the best of active U.S. horses. Also, Royal Deta had won at the Classic distance and although it would be foolish to say that HDG could not, since it took a photo to find out that she didnt, RD was also still in training, but I will say that her new owner had the huge funds to by-pass the years normally required to establish a broodmare band(He also purchased several pricey well-bred fillies along with Royal Delta) so that's what he did, and you will see how wise that decision was, in just a few years. Havre De Grace had an excellent record, you know the details, and she also has a top pedigree. Maybe the underbidder for Royal Delta would like to buy HDG. · 219 days ago ·
