What the Nation is saying about Harbour Watch...

Has been retired. According to Racing Post his connections have abandoned attempts to get him back to the track following a hind leg injury in preparation for last year's Dewhurst
More disappointing news on this undefeated 3 yr old...it doesn't look like he will return to racing. http://www1.skysports.com/horse-racing/news/12426/8079061
For those of you who like me are anxiously awaiting his return to racing after nearly a year off due to injury, we'll have to wait just a bit longer. According to his trainer, Richard Hannon, "He will not be ready in time for Goodwood. It was a tricky injury and we have had to take our time, but, though he is making steady progress, you cannot go for a race like the Lennox half-cocked."
where is Harbour Watch now?
  • yukichan · Following his 3 straight wins last year, he suffered an injury to his hind leg. It has taken him longer to recover. Hannon was hoping to have him ready for 2000 Guineas and it did not happen, nor did Royal Ascot. · 332 days ago ·

where is Harbour Watch now?
From Sunday's Racing Post web-site: The connection's of the Richard Hannon trained Harbour Watch have today ruled him all but out of this year's G1 English 2000 Guineas on May 5th at Newmarket. HarbourWatche's owner, Robin Heffer, said today that they had hoped to have Harbour Watch ready for the English 2000 Guineas after suffering an injury that kept him out of the G1 Dewhurst Stakes last season. But Heffer said it now looks all but certain that he's not going to be ready to run by then. Harbour Watch went 3 for 3 during his 2yr.old season last year, culminating with a win in the G2 Richmond Stakes at Goodwood in late July. He had been generally considered by most European bookmakers as the second choice in the English 2000 Guineas betting. Trainer Richard Hannon commented that they would hopefully look for something for Harbour Watch later in the season. Most likely either the G1 Irish 2000 Guineas at the Curragh or the G1 St James's Palace Stakes at Royal-Ascot.
  • ILuvTurfRacing · Really kind of a bummer, IMO. I really liked the look of this horse last season in all 3 of his wins in the UK. I hoped he would recover from the late 2011 injury he suffered in time to make the G1 English 2000 Guineas field at Newmarket on May 5th. But if the colt is not ready to run, and he's obviously isn't, you can't blame Hannon or the connection's for playing it cautiously, and looking toward other G1 targets later in the summer.
