The old boy, Halicarnassus, has raced in a lot of stakes races on the turf in Europe in 2010. From listed stakes, all the way up to G1's. His best finishes in Europe in 2010 were 4th in the G1 Tattersalls Gold Cup, 4th in the G2 Bosphorus Cup in Turkey, and 4th in the G3 Cumberland Lodge Stakes at Royal-Ascot. But in Dubai in 2010 and 2011, Halicarnassus has finished first or second in 4 of 6 starts over the past two carnivals. He's run's both the tapeta and turf at Meydan extremely well, and can go in races from 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 on either surface with no problem. If I'm Mick Channon, as well as Halicarnassus has performed at Meydan last year and this year, I'd roll the dice and enter him in either the Dubai World Cup or the Sheema Classic and see if the Cape Cross gelding couldn't run well enough to get a piece of one of those races.
