Older Comments about Grandeur...

Grandeur's been one of my favorite middle distances horses in the UK and when he comes stateside to race for a long time. He should've arguably already been a G1 winner in this country if not for Garrett Gomez dropping him out to the parking lot in the G1 Hollywood Derby and leaving him far too much to do that day, and even then he was closing on Unbridled Command in that race like a shot when the 2 of them hit the wire. He's been running on polytrack at Lingfield over the winter he's won 2 of his 3 starts on that surface, and he's a much better horse on turf than synthetics. I think/hope Grandeur goes back to Great Britain a G1 winner after today!!
Grandeur looks likely to be heading back to America soon, but this time not to California but to New York. Trainer Jeremey Noseda said he'll be heading to Belmont Park with the G1 Manhattan Handicap & G1 Man O'War Stakes at the top his agenda to contest. Noseda said he may start Grandeur out in something like the G3 Fort Marcy Stakes in May to get him acclimated to American racing again.
Grandeur nips Dick Doughtywylie by a head to win the inaugural running of the All-Weather Middle Distance Championships at Lingfield, rebounding from a sub-par effort last time out in the G3 Winter Derby.
  • ILuvTurfRacing · After Grandeur's win in the All-Weather Middle Distance Championships at Lingfield on Saturday, trainer Jeremy Noseda told AtTheRaces.com: "I'll have to chat with the owners, but Grandeur has shown he's suited to racing in America and he'll probably go to Belmont Park in May and June. The American turf horses aren't as tough as the horses we have to face in Great Britain and there's a lot of money on offer." The last time Grandeur was in America he looked arguably as good as he ever has. He won the G2 Twilight Derby & G2 Hollywood Turf Cup, and if not for an abysmal ride that day by Garrett Gomez dropping Grandeur so far back and trying to run down Unbridled Command from the parking lot, I believe he would've won the G1 Hollywood Derby also. Grandeur's back in pretty solid form again right now, so I would expect to see him run well at Belmont if he turns up there this summer, IMO. · 1074 days ago
Grandeur wins the listed Winter Derby Trial Stakes at 2000 meters on polytrack at Lingfield in his 2014 debut. It was Grandeur's first career start on a synthetic surface. Grandeur has entries in the Dubai Duty Free, Sheema Classic, & Dubai World Cup, but the move to polytrack today has me wondering if trainer Jeremy Noseda might not be eyeing the big prize at Meydan on March 29th?
  • ILuvTurfRacing · I saw the replay of the Winter Derby Trial Stakes earlier on AtTheRaces.com and Grandeur looked great. He looked really relaxed and settled with Ryan Moore riding throughout the entire race and he seemed to glide over the polytrack surface very effortlessly. Now granted, running well on polytrack doesn't always translate into running well on tapeta, but this is the same race that both Gitano Hernando & Planteur have used to prep for the G1 Dubai World Cup in past years. Just saying..... · 1129 days ago
Grandeur back in the winners circle, winning the listed Foundation Stakes at Goodwood.
If he runs as well as he did in his last race in the G2 Sky Bet York Stakes, I think Grandeur has a massive chance of winning this year's G1 Arlingtom Million. He's officially rated 115 and carrying a G2 penalty at York for his wins in America he had to carry a 5lb. penalty and was still only beaten 3/4 lengths by the 125 rated Mukhadram. A horse that has been right up Al Kazeem's backside in the G1 Prince of Wales's Stakes and G1 Coral-Eclipse, and Al Kazeem as we know is arguably one of the top older middle distance horses in Europe right now. All of that form tying in together gives Grandeur a big chance in the Million, IMO.
Grandeur is back in Great Britain in the barn of his original trainer Jeremy Noseda. He looks probable for the G2 Hardwicke Stakes at Ascot coming up during the royal meeting in June.
A story on the Racing Post web-site says that a trip to Meydan for upcoming Dubai Carnival now beckons for Grandeur, the highly talented 3yo owned by Miss Yvonne Jacques. Grandeur made his first start for US based trainer Patrick Gallagher in his G2 Hollywood Turf Cup on Saturday, but Gallagher concedes that trainer Jeremy Noseda, who trained Grandeur when he was still racing in the UK, will likely be back at the helm again for Grandeur in Dubai.
He is turning in a turf monster and keeps looking better in each race, what a win!
GO!GO!! GOOOOO!!! yay!!! he won!!

  • edgaropena · 250k, a winners circle photo, and a trophy. I like this gelding. Very classy that has a unique neck and head that is raised very upright. Has a slim shaped head that reminds me of a dinosaur like a Pterodactyl or Sinosauropteryx. · 1563 days ago
Nice turn of foot in the final 1/16ths to win the what now is called the G.II Twilight Derby (formerly Oak Tree Derby).
