What the Nation is saying about Golden Sword...

The 2011 edition of the Dubal World Cup ended up being a showcase for Japan as horses from that ailing country took the top two spots with Victoire Pisa and Transcend. Transcent went straight to the front over a tiring Tapeta surface at Maydan with eventual winner Victoire Pisa sitting back in last ...Read More
  • medlocke · This year's Dubai World Cup really served to remind me how much I truly miss the race being run on the conventional dirt at Nad Al Sheba. Victoire Pisa had to come 5 or 6 wide to forge to the front early just to inject any pace at all into the race, as it was run at a terrible dottle. That move turned out to be the best tactical move of the race. As Victoire Pisa took the lead and never looked back. · 787 days ago ·

One of the likely favorites for the 2011 Dubai World Cup, Bold Silvano will miss the 2011 Dubai World Cup (G1) after he “tweaked or pulled something” according to trainer Mike De Kock.  Jason Ford of the Racing Post has the story.  As a result, Golden Sword, previously moved to the Dubai S...Read More

In an absolute travesty to punters, Thursday’s third race winner at Meydan was shown as a non-runner on the international tote feed.  Wagering outlets were still able to take bets on #1 GOLDEN SWORD, but the public that paid any attention to the international feed were shown a crawl indicating ...Read More
The Dubai World Cup will go the way of Japan when RED DESIRE scores a knockout punch.  Maybe. At least, the consensus among the international media and meet-long observers is that the Japanese filly could be the next superstar in racing, and there are few to go against that opinion.  She w...Read More
Golden Sword, in 2009, raced for most of the racing season in the shadow of horses like Sea The Stars, Rip Van Winkle, Fame and Glory, and Mastercraftsman to name a few. But in the races that Golden Sword competed in over in Ireland and Great Britain, you could tell by watching him race that there was some potential for him to become a really good colt. He's since started his 2010 racing season at Meydan Racecourse in Dubai with a very game 3rd place effort in the Dubai City of Gold. He actually took over the lead late in the race, but Golden Sword's stamina just didn't quite hold up this time. So he settled for a show effort. But I really think it's just a matter of time before this colt's ability leads him back to the winners circle again.
Reports emerged today that private purchases away from the Ballydoyle contingent trained by Aidan O’Brien will yield some new horses in Mike De Kock’s Newmarket yard, with a strong chance of seeing these two colts in Dubai next year.  Read More
