My name is Brian Zipse, and I support Illinois racing. There I said it, and you know what? I’m proud of it. While I didn’t make it down to Fairmount Park this year (it’s nearly a five-hour drive,) I did have the pleasure of frequenting two fine and very different racetracks in Arlington Park and Haw...Read More

Illinois-bred and local Chicago favorite Giant Oak (Giant’s Causeway - Crafty Oak by Crafty Prospector) has retired from his illustrious racing career and will stand at stud at Millennium Farms in Lexington, KY. Let’s take a look back and celebrate the career of this champion!Read More
  • Winplacsho · Though an Illinois bred, I really think Giant Oak has a good shot at being an elite sire. He's proven on turf/dirt & could run all day. Also, his damsire is Crafty Prospector so there may be a little speed in there too. · 37 days ago ·

  • RobertPotter · This horse unfairly was dubbed many unkind nicknames...Giant Acorn and Giant Slug perhaps two of the better known monikers.Overall, he proved the naysayers wrong. He was a good horse even though he DID need things to be set up by others. A couple of the local trainers who relished referring to him as Giant Slug wouldn't know a good horse when they saw one! · 37 days ago ·

  • Winplacsho · Very evenly matched group. Giant Oak is also a sleeper for me in the Classic...not to win but to land in the bottom of the exotics at a huge price, very similar to Fly Down last year. I think his races at Saratoga are better than they appear, since no one could make up any significant ground in the stretch at Saratoga all year. · 125 days ago ·
