  • rafirox · too unsound of an animal for me to even consider breeding to him... Not terrible confirmation, but not worthwhile either. · 325 days ago
  • Sullivan · "Speed, looks and class of Tiznow" < I'd just spend the extra $60k and take Tiznow · 323 days ago
I wonder how he will do at stud.

Hi Gem how is it going?
I didn't know he retired. What is happening here? It must be the Northern Dancer...
A couple photos of Gemologist at Winstar farm. www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151127977518922&set=pb.261791448921.-2207520000.1350855354&type=1&theater
Recently read the news of "Gem", I will miss his racing days, but look forward to his offspring get the chance to win like his Dad now. He was the best looking 3yr old male to me and is and was a sure champ, won every race and beat every horse in each race that he entered and was not sick or injured in including Grade 1 and 2, will always remember the joy and how I switched gears on my top 2yr old choice when you won Jockey club at CD in as fast a time as the Breeders Cup and you took it to my top selection in the stretch, I knew and hoped after that you were a true champ! Don
Gemologist has been retired according to David Grening form DRF.

  • Northport · Geeze, take it easy, mary. I guess i should have said i picked a bad year in terms of three year old colts. We're all fans here, dont have to be so serious · 722 days ago
  • Mary Z. · Dude, when was the last time I left a dissertation? Right, so hope you enjoyed that one and you can lecture whoever else does the same, except way longer, k? · 722 days ago
Gemologist has been sent back to WinStar Farm for an evaluation after putting in two works that weren't "quite as good" as his works leading up to the Haskell, DRF reports.

  • kaitlinefree1 · i don't know if it is for good, but all it said was "hes done." · 744 days ago
  • DonPassidomo · As for the PA deby, if Fed Biz aruns he is my selection without doubt he was my other future KD wager with Gem · 744 days ago
Wish him the best and as I have said before, until he runs again and now if he runs again, which I hope he can and will do, until he runs and loses without being sick or injured I believe he is capable and will/would any race he runs in, other than his two loses, which he was injured and not well, he is undeated and grade-1 and II winner, beat Alpha for fun in the stretch, please get well my special boy
Another work for "Gem"tis AM, what do you think? Hope he runs soon, he is too good, beat Alpha for fun
Gem must be getting frustrated waiting for next race and top 3yr title in limbo..anyone know when he will run again?
  • TimSmith · 3 yr old title in limbo? And how is Gem talked about in the same sentence as 3yo title? · 768 days ago
  • DonPassidomo · Quite easily, he is grade 1 -2 winner, never lost in any race he hasn't been injured in, so until he runs a race healthy and loses, he is not my top choice · 768 days ago
Thanks was just going to ask how the big boy is doing, hope he can run soon, anywhere if he is healthy
Gemologist worked 4f in :47.62 at Saratoga on 8/19. Travers could still be a possibility.
"Gemologist a 'longshot' to make it to the Travers"
How is Gem doing? Any plans for the big boy?
Mark Singelais tweeted that Gemologist was found to have a lung infection when scoped after the Haskell. He will go on antibiotics.

  • rafirox · There not going to retire him for something that will most likely be gone in a month. · 790 days ago
  • AfterHours · Poor guy, people keep thinking he is a classless horse, one with no talent because of his prior two races. Yet he came out of them with some sort of ailment. He just needs one good race to redeem himself. · 790 days ago
Well once again I say IF HEALTHY I want to see him race, whether allowance or grade-1 the next race he runs if he finishes nornally either winning or losing I will then say he is not the level I truly believe he is, wish Winstar has stayed home obvious the trip to NJ did not help regardless of outcome. PS: Was there also a displaced palat?
Gemologist ran dead last today but this was his first race back from the derby and he left the derby with a bruised foot. Some horses need a race to come back, also a'lot of horses do not like Monmouth's sandy track. A bunch of people were saying yesterday ' Alpha looked great and Is gonna win the Travers ' But yet Gemologist beat Alpha in the Wood and you yet say Gemologist should not run he's not good enough. He is good enough and needed a race.

  • hollywood27 · 6-7 ARE YOU CRAZY ? He should BE going 8-9 · 792 days ago
  • rafirox · Exactly Hollywood! Who would say he is a sprinter??????????? He is an 8-9 furlong horse! · 792 days ago
Gem should stay away from the travers, as he just doesn't have it.

  • JordynBurco · He will be back. He didnt perform well because they found an lung infection. Dont know why they didnt figure that out before the race though? · 792 days ago
  • buds · Looked like the first race off of a layoff to me. Lung infection may have something to do with it, but looked like prep. Although Im not sure if Gem was polished and ready if he could have beaten Paynter. · 792 days ago
