Assuming he goes to the Classic, I have to wonder how high his odds are going to be.

  • MarkKennedy · We'll they kept him going because california horses always had their home state to fall back on to garner honors because of their weak fields. Now that the older division in their state is getting stronger. He just can't cut it. He was good in his prime and kudos to his accomplishments but it's time to retire · 10 days ago ·
  • icyhotboo · First off the older division is the same except for "dude" who isn't "dude" anymore. I don't think they expected a challenge from the #2, but the form clearly shows he can't rate as the only time he didn't contest the lead was when he wasn't fast enough. For that reason I couldn't undertand Baffert continuously stated that they were going to the lead, because for starters Fury Kapcori is 1/5 of a second faster to the first call, a little more than a length. As for Game On Dude I believe LAZMANICK nailed it with this excerpt from his comment. "That big win in the SAH, IMO is an anomaly. It’s time to realize that when a horse steps out of his normal box and throws in an extraordinary race, he’s going to pay the price somewhere down the line." The effects of his big race on 3/8/14 were immediate, allowing for Imperative to win at 26/1 at Charles Town on 4/19/14. This horse needs a well deserved long rest or retirement, because without it things will get worse, and that will truly be sad for such a horse who gave his all each time out, and with the exception of one race ran exactly as expected each time. It's time to stop sqeezing the lemon. · 10 days ago ·
Under a patient ride from jockey Tyler Baze, Majestic Harbor inhaled the early leaders at the top of the stretch and drew away to an upset victory in the G1 Gold Cup at Santa Anita.Read More

  • LAZMANNICK · The sad part is he is six years old and ran the race of his life and I don’t see him challenging the top horses in the division in future. Until yesterday he was only a G3 winner who was zero for 5 in G2 races and 1 for 2 in G3’s. IMO, the only reason he won was the speed dual. GOD, without Fury Kapori, would probably have wired this field. Every quarter in the race was slower than the previous one and they walked home that last quarter in 26.39. Speed killed. They did the first two quarters in 45.39 and the last two in 51.73, 7 1/2L slower. Clubhouse Ride isn’t a true G1 horse either. · 10 days ago ·
  • icyhotboo · After tossing the 1 and 2, it left the 3and 4 which I boxed in an exacta. However whenever you figure a pace duel, which I did, it's not usually the stalkers who win but the deep closers, because the stalkers are to close to close to the pace in the 4th quarter and give way in the fifth. It's hard to remember because it only applies to 10f races, and those distance races are as close to extinct as you can get. Even after saying that the #6 is an early stalker who was regularly getting beaten by this group and IMO should have finished behind the #3 and #4, and I haven't got a clue to the running style of the #5 or the #7 as none of the forms showed it. Thus a small exacta box was in order it seemed. · 10 days ago ·
I dont think he is going to the classic, I think he is going to be retired
  • kaitlinefree1 · i hope so. · 11 days ago ·
  • cedar · Wouldn't it be something if the Dude and Dan (when the time came) were both retired to the Horse Park? They'd be quite the attractions · 11 days ago ·
https://twitter.com/kaitlinefree/status/483029396773543937/photo/1 just thought i would share my birthday cake with everyone!
Is Baffert going to finally say he is done being he has been for 2 years! He has gotten lucky and wired a few fields when HE shows up but he has now lost 5/6 and OTB again. This time he basically faced the worst field he has ever faced. I played three horses, 1 3 and 6. I played a 3-6 exacta, figuring if he loses he would be off the board and should have played the triple but I did play 4 hours ago. Now I have a nice exacta after a nice double hit and I am only alive with 3 horses in the next two races. But I already made money. But this will be nice to hit.

Brian and HRN Management. I want to thank you for the flexibility you are showing in an attempt to improve the HRN product. Speaking for myself,i enjoy seeing first hand what everyone is talking about, not just certain individuals. Please do not listen to those that attack the posters that might veer off topic and discuss other topics other than Horseracing. That in my opinion is what separates this site from others. The fact that i feel comfortable enough with SOME and i stress SOME ONLY,to discuss many topics. It lends a human element to everything. In my personal life,i do not discuss horses all the time.So i would like to be afforded the same at HRN. As the site was,it wa perfect. In regards to people going after each other per say. SO WHAT,as long as they are civil and do not curse and turn the site into a Vulgarity laced tirade center,i could care less. People have opinions big deal. Thank you for returning the personal touch.

  • EP Taylor · I agree that Awesome again does have some very nice sound geldings in Awesome Gem, and Game On dude. He also had the handsome Wilko who started 29 races, and also a tough mare named Ginger Punch who made 22 starts in 2 years. He did have a few like Ghostzapper, Oxbow, Paynter and Awesome Of Course who had limited careers. I still think Wilko was his most beautiful baby. Absolute stunner of a horse, decent on the track. · 12 days ago ·

An expected win in Saturdays Gold Cup will stamp the old boy as the leader in the chase for the irrelevant award of HOTY. In 4 starts it will give him 2 G1 Victories and a placing in a G2. The only race he finished off the board was when one of the jocks in the race, saw it was more important to settle a past score than ride a race. In The Big Cap, he beat the absolute best field assembled this year to date in a dominating performance.
  • Mary Z. · Old saying, takes two to tango. I agree that the San Antonio was a waste. Not sure what horses remember, but Blueskies was Dude's workmate for at least the last half of 2012, so used to going with Dude for 6f in as little as 1:10, but "losing". Awaiting the actual entries, but with Fury in the race, maybe Dude should not wire, but bide his time just outside if possible then swoop after 6f. We know Dude does not have a problem with 10f or quick fractions, with rare extra speedy early fraction exceptions. Clubhouse Ride is probably at his best right now, but so far, that has only gotten him second to Dude. Really love Fury. Wouldn't underestimate him, just know what Dude does at this distance, this time of year. P.S.Read that Blueskies' regular rider Martin Pedroza is back this week. #nomorebs early duels , hopefully. As for awards, would like to see Dude take top older main track male that he has deserved. · 16 days ago ·
  • tmallios · Mary in this race the Dude should be able to do what he pleases ,he is just that much better than this bunch. I agree with the San Antonio, crazypants had a small hand in it. He was baited by the other clown. But that race is irrelevant now.Fury is fast, but Hollendorfer is to smart of a horseman to get involved. I am assuming that the Dude is at his best, that being the case. The rest are running to fillk out the exactas, triples and supers. · 16 days ago ·
