Older Comments about Frozen Fire...

Boy, I was really pulling for Frozen Fire to break through with a win at Meydan during the 2010 Dubai Racing Carnival. He had 3 or 4 starts at Meydan, but was never able to hit the board in any of his races. Since he won the Irish Derby, pretty impressively in June, 2008, Frozen Fire has not had an "on the board" finish in any race since. His best finishes were in May 2009, at Chester in the Ormonde Stakes, where he finished 3rd to Buccellati and Scintillo. The problem with that finish, they were the only three horses in the race. In July, he did manage a 5th place finish in the Investec Corination Cup at Epsom. In a very strong field that saw Ask just nose out Youmzain in an extremely close photo finish. The filly Look Here took third in that race. I'm just really surprised that since his 08' Irish Derby win at Curragh, that Frozen Fire hasn't fared better in any of his Stakes races than he has.
Since he won the 2008 Irish Derby at Curragh in Ireland, Frozen Fire has become a colt that truly has lost his way. He's a horse that's not only struggling to get a Graded or Group win, but a win of any sort. This was a colt that was racing well enough in 2008 to beat Casual Conquest and Tartan Bearer, both top class thoroughbreds, in the Irish Derby, but every since, hasn't found the winners circle. He was a well beaten 7th in the 2009 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes. He's since, most recently, been shipped over to Dubai for the 2010 racing Carnival where he's already been well beaten in a couple of races at Meydan Racecourse. One of them being the Dubai Racing Club Gold Cup, where Frozen Fire raced at the back of the field for most of the race, and then absolutely went "flat to the boards" when he tried to start any kind of run to catch eventual winner Sabotage. He has yet to hit the board in any of his races at Meydan in Dubai. I'm not a trainer, so I don't really know what this horse may, or may not need to change in his training. But this is a colt that since winning the 08' Irish Derby is desperate for a Stakes win of any kind. JMO.
