Older Comments about Friesan Fire...

Friesan Fire just recently shipped to Keeneland and had his first work there in 1:01 and 2/5. I think the Ben Ali looks like a possible spot for him. Asmussen didn't ship him down here for nothing.
12-3-09 Friesan Fire finished third behind Good and Lucky and Glamor Guy in a $50,000 dollar allowance optional claimer today at the Fair Grounds. This colt looked so impressive there early in the spring sweeping the Locomte Stakes, the Risen Star Stakes, and the Louisiana Derby before going on to really tank in the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness. I know he had an injury that's had him sidelined for a while, but to have to drop all the way down from winning 3 straight Stakes races to now only managing a "show" in a field of five in an allowance race, I wonder if he'll ever come back to being the level of colt that it appeared he might be at one time.
  • ruby · All those hard Derby preps over a sloppy and possibly sealed track at the FG last winter might have taken their toll. · 2345 days ago
  • mdracing69 · Would not be concerned with Friesan Fire's even return. Good And Lucky is a stakes winner and 5-time local winner. Friesan Fire needed the race and can move up next time. · 2345 days ago
Doubtful... but you never know.
Yes, no Quality Road totally drops the price on Friesan Fire. Glad I got 18-1 in the first Future Wager pool... it also opens up the Super that much more!
Training up to the Derby, Friesan Fire's the forgotten horse. Nobody is talking about him. I wonder how that affects his price.
Wow... MDracing... FF on the lead... that's a very interesting take. And you know, being by AP Indy, they will have no concerns about Friesan Fire getting the distance. So they'll be confident they can push him if the pace is soft.
Here's an interesting take on Friesan Fire from April 23rd Bris Derby Report... But what about Friesan Fire? Watch his previous races on video -- the Kentucky-bred owns plenty of early speed. Jockey Gabriel Saez really works to force him off the pace a couple of times, and Friesan Fire's earned century-topping BRIS E1 and E2 Pace ratings. Hard Spun rated off the pace in his final two Derby preps, and I expected to see him employ the same tactics on Derby Day. Instead, he was three lengths up after the opening half-mile. Don't be surprised if Friesan Fire comes out hustling from the start.
Training up to the Derby, people are going to forget about Friesan Fire... but believe me, he is the real deal!
