What the Horse Racing Nation is saying about Free Entry...

Sam Davis show finisher Watch Me Go turned the tables on Brethren to win Saturday's Tampa Bay Derby (G3). Brethren sat an outside stalking trip in the Sam Davis but Ramon Dominguez sent him after the lead through reasonable fractions of :23.73, :48.20, and 1:12.60 with Watch Me Go and Crimson Knight...Read More
I have been to approximately forty thoroughbred racetracks in my life, and it is always a thrill to add a new one to the resume. It is especially pleasurable when the new track for me turns out to be a hidden gem. Ladies and gentleman, Tampa Bay Downs is that and more. I visited a few days ago, and ...Read More

  • mshutty · Having visited many tracks across the US I would definitely put Tampa Bay Downs in my Top 5. Driving up to that track for the first time I didn't know what to expect. I thought that track might actually be in someone's back yard as I drove on the two lane road through a residential area to get there. Super friendly people, bright, clean, great views of the track. Great place to spend a day with the ponies. My top five tracks for atmosphere are Del Mar, Saratoga, Keeneland, Arlington Park and Tampa Bay Downs. For puring racing it would be Saratoga, Keeneland, Churchill Downs, Del Mar, Santa Anita · 441 days ago ·

  • medlocke · I could be wrong? Lord knows I have been plenty of times. But from what I've seen on conventional dirt thus far out of Uncle Mo, I just really don't see him getting a real stiff test until the premier Derby prep's like the Florida, Arkansas, and Santa Anita Derbies come along. Whichever one Pletcher decides to send Uncle Mo to? My gut says if he send's Uncle Mo to any of the afore mentioned? It will likely be the Florida Derby. Which I believe may very well turn out to be the most competitive this year of all the Kentucky Derby prep's. JMO. · 442 days ago ·

With Uncle Mo scheduled to run in Gulfstream Park’s Timely Writer Stakes, the Tampa Bay Derby (G-2) is a showdown between the big hoss, Brethren vs. the foes he handily defeated in the Sam F. Todd Pletcher entered Brethren and Uncle Mo in Saturday’s Tampa Bay Derby but the latter is expected to start in the one-mile Timely Writer at Gulfstream Park instead. The Tampa Bay Downs crowd will be disappointed that the 2-year-old champ is running in Hallandale but Brethren is no slouch. The Wi...Read More
Free Entry is a product of the famed Claiborne Farm bloodlines. His sire and damsire are closely related, as their dams are half sisters. This gives Free Entry close inbreeding to the blue hen Narrate, the mother of Tale Of The Cat’s dam Yarn and Pulpit’s dam Preach. Free Entry is a half brother to the stakes winning sprinter Thunder’s Dove. His second dam Luxuriously is a half sister to the second crop sire With Distinction and Grade 1 placed Resort, dam of Peter Pan winner Sightseeing.

  • mdracing69 · The workout report has been updated to include the Oaklawn horses. Elite Alex worked a bullet and Borel was impressed. He told Oaklawn officials that Elite Alex reminds him of Street Sense. He will definitely get pace help if The Factor goes in the Rebel. · 447 days ago ·

  • ajump08 · Elite Alex is going to keep improving for Tim Ritchey, who trained his sire Afleet Alex, who ran 6th in the Rebel before winning the Arkansas Derby and eventually moving on to take the last two legs of the Triple Crown. Interesting note: He's an Ontario bred, so the Queen's Plate is probably on the back of the connections' heads. Also, people need to realize the majority of the 3 year olds you see aren't geared up all the way, the trainers wan't to slowly progress through the Winter for peak performance in May when it really matters. Examples of horses running huge in their last prep race and then dissapointing on the First Saturday of May are abundant: Sidney's Candy, Bellamy Road, and even Afleet Alex (although his third wasn't bad). · 447 days ago ·
