  • Sullivan · Oh my god I like! Probably the most distance oriented conformation I have seen this decade. Take a look at Omaha, same back end and straight shoulder · 1260 days ago
  • Dressage3295 · Excellent. Love what I see so far · 1260 days ago
is now on Adena Springs' stallion list.
Go get the win!

  • papillon · he ran much better than i thought he would and his 4th place finish is nothing to be ashamed of--he's the only speed who survived the 3 way duel--good on him. shows he was a worthy winner last year. · 1273 days ago
  • notobsessed · Well, at least I know I wasn't the only person rooting for him! · 1273 days ago
Adena Springs will buy Fort Larned after the 2013 Breeder's Cup Classic - no timetable has been given as to whether or not he will race in 2014

  • Sullivan · I would assume he would retire either way, unless he plans to go out in the Donn or Clark. This shows more of Adena Spring's support for rarer bloodlines, and I must congratulate them on it. · 1274 days ago
  • kaitlinefree1 · it says on Bloodhorse that he would immediately retire following the Classic. · 1274 days ago
Everyone acts so confused as to why Fort Larned will win one day, and throw in a clunker the next. The explanation's simple: He needs, the lead, or he'll never be in it at the finish line.
nice to see him stand in America, Adena Springs
on October 28, Fort Larned worked 5F at Churchill Downs on Fast Dirt in 1:01.80 b finishing 5/21.
On October 19, Fort Larned worked 4F in 49 flat (10/61) at Churchill Downs.
Absolutely no one seems to be giving the reigning champ a shot in the Classic. All GOD this and MMM that. He beat both of them last year if everyone forgot. If he gets the lead again, watch out. If he doesn't, he will fade.
  • tmallios1 · nvrlose, why on earth would you even complain. If i loved Larned,i would hope that he flew under the radar and paid the same as last year. Would you rather the alternative, everybody picks him, goes off and wins as the Favorite?? · 1290 days ago
  • sosotricksy · I will pick FL over GOD every time. · 1290 days ago
On October 13, Fort Larned breezed 5F in a minute flat (2/22) at Churchill Downs.
Fort Larned confirmed for the BCC. That just made my day.
on October 8, Fort Larned worked 4F at Churchill Downs on Fast Dirt in :49.00 b finishing 7/29.
with all that speed going into the classic look for orb to run a big race .i still cannot believe orb ran so bad last tim out i honestlly think he does not like one turn racing ,because his race in the travers was excellent and should have moved him forward. His trainer is also not one to run an unfit horse .I think he will prove all doubters wrong in the classic.
  • UnionRagsRules · One turn race? he hasn't ran a one turn race in quite a while. · 1306 days ago
  • goblin · As far as I know, they've not decided to put him in the Classic. · 1306 days ago
Wow, is nobody else as happy as I am that Fort Larned won as well? ... The BC is shaping up to be a good one.
i think it is VERY NECESSARY for him to win the Homecoming Classic. he hasn't had a spectacular year.
on September 23, Fort Larned worked 5F at Churchill Downs on Fast Dirt in 1:02.40 b finishing 26/39.
Churchill Downs reports that Ian Wilkes has chosen their new Homecoming Classic over the Jockey Club Gold Cup for Fort Larned.

  • buds · EP- I don’t think what you have posted holds water. Last year GOD had a clunker and lost HOY to an inconsistent horse that won the classic. So it sounds like the public hasn’t changed their minds and doesn’t have double standards (Unless I missed your point). As for FL skipping the G1. It does appear he is looking for an easier race, but there is nothing wrong with that. The connections want to get him back in winning form before the Breeders Cup, looks like a smart move for a horse not in his best form. Remember the goal in to win in early November, it doesn’t matter how you get there. Trust me a 2 time BCC winner demands a much higher stud fee than winning HOY, besides if he does beat GOD in the classic FL will probably have more votes to win HOY than GOD anyway. · 1319 days ago
  • EP Taylor · Buds- Fort Larned had agood enough campaign last year to win older male. So I am not sure how winning the Whitney, Classic, and a placing in the JCGC, Alysheba(Took a track record to beat him), He won the Skip Away, so how was that an inconsistent campaign?....... · 1319 days ago

  • LAZMANNICK · Mike, there are alternatives. The Brooklyn is currently 12F. The Suburban is currently 10F. Both are G2 rated, but they used to be G1 races and always attracted some of the top handicap horses around. Top horses participating in those races again would probably see them raised to G1 status eventually. The problem, IMO, is trainers will be reluctant to run their top horses in them because of the 10F. Right now I get the feeling that the JCGC is a monumental task simply because it’s at 10F. That’s a shame. When we look out west the Hollywood Gold Cup and Pacific Classic are 10F G1 races, but they’re on synthetic surfaces and therefore attract very few, if any, top horses from the east. I Think that Tmallios, given his proximity to the back stretch, could probably shed more light on this than many of us can. · 1338 days ago
  • tmallios1 · i agree with potential future on turf.he has shown will not be the dominant dirt horse.now they are reaching for straws · 1338 days ago
Does anyone know how long Fort Larned will be sidelined. This cant be good for his bid to repeat in the Classic
  • goblin · The BH article said the goal is the BCC at this point in time, but that he must be 100%. Injuries don't usually follow a specific time frame.... · 1338 days ago
  • kaitlinefree1 · my guess is that will be his next race, not a prep. · 1338 days ago
