horseracinghl ‏@horseracinghl 22m Ken Wilkins of Spendthrift said spots to get Flat Out as part of "Share the Upside" program sold out in 2hrs

  • Northport · Hence why I asked if they were all different or if it was a standard number... · 349 days ago
  • Northport · I know that book sizes per stallion vary, but I was wondering for 'share the upside' if the amount of mares accepted into the program varied as well per stallion, or if it was a set ratio · 349 days ago
Good thing he went out with a bang, winning his only race outside of belmont in his last race. I'll miss Flat Out, Happy Retirement
I bet first year he will get 150+ mares since he is at Spendthrift

  • Northport · How can you judge Spendthrift's single farm in KY against the 1/3 of Coolmore's operation and 1/4 of Darley that you have seen (on a tour) and judge that Spendthrift is better? I had no idea you got your veterinary license and were able to judge a horse standing in their stall as unhappy. Spendthrift does a good job marketing, as does Darley with their popular online stallion seasons, but the history of standing world class stallions and breeding champions on multiple continents the way Coolmore and Darley have puts them in a realm of their own. · 376 days ago
  • Sullivan · You don't need a license to tell if a horse is enjoying himself. No establishment can match the care, marketing, and genius moves Spendthrift has made. From Leslie Comb's selling technique to their breed secure program, they are the World's Top establishment. Who they stand matters little, but Swaps, Nashua, Raise a Native, Exclusive Native, Seattle Slew, JO Tobin, Affirmed, Malibu Moon, Never Bend and Gallant Man. Coolmore does not nor does Darley support such horses nor do either have the history. · 376 days ago
Nicks a A++ with Take Charge Lady= a foal named Flat Take Charge. Couldn't help myself. Rated A++ with Vertigineux. Rated A++ with Authenticity. Rated A++ with Havre de Grace. Rated a A+ with Winter Memories. Rated A with Keertana. Rated A with Blind Luck. Versatile.
Flat Out will stand a Spendthrift Farm in 2014 for $10,000 as part of "Share the Upside" program. IMO that is a terrific value for a horse that raced from 2-7, winning from 6f to 1 1/4 and with G1 wins at a mile and 1 1/4
Official word is out. My old man is retired, and retired on a very high note. He deserves this retirement. I want to wish him the best on his next career. I look forward to seeing his babies on the tracks in the future. And I will follow them when they do. I just love him. That is all.

Happy Retirement to the awesome one!
I wonder if they will retire him, going out a G1 winner seems like the right way to go. Shackelford, Stay Thirsty, Graydar, etc.
I love him... https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152057470765170&set=a.222777365169.181054.76866300169&type=1&theater

Whoa. That's a statement victory and he steamrolled the others in the Cigar Mile.
on November 25, Flat Out worked 4F at Payson Park Training Center on Fast Dirt in :48.00 b finishing 1/9.
Got a workout notice for Flat Out. SSilence, any word on him going in the Clark?

I bet Claiborne stands him
  • Sullivan · I hope so. · 417 days ago
  • Sullivan · I really like him as a stallion. He raced 6 seasons, winning from 6f to 10f on dirt. He had only minor soundness problems and carries all of the three main American Sire lines (Mr. Prospector, Seattle Slew and Northern Dancer) while having them all in dilution, making him a good cross to any major American mare. He is not overly big, and he harbors a pedigree with surface versatility. I think he is a good match for Zenyatta, the only thing I am concerned about is his lack of precocity and speed which Zenyatta could certainly use. TrueNicks rates his sire, Flatter, an A (2.68) with Zenyatta. The colt's dosage profile would be 2.60 with a CD of 0.45, a somewhat classic pedigree. Keep in mind that he has no ancestors who are Chefs in his first two generations. His dosage profile is 6-2-10-0-0. Zenyatta's 2014 colt's dosage profile is 3 - 5 - 14 - 0 - 0, with a Dosage Index of 2.14 and a CD of .55. While breeding to Flat Out is more targeted to speed dosage wise, I maintain that he is a sounder animal and one who is proven to go long than War Front, and therefore is a logical pick for Zenyatta.
