He looked great last night, so glad to see him win again!
Looks like he recently came out of retirement and is racing tonight in the Sam Houston Sprint Cup...goodluck!
Flashpoint got back to his winning ways today at Fair Grounds.
I thought he was retired...
  • Mary Z. · So did I, shores. Surprised to find him on the CD card today. I liked him last year--GL to him to have a decent return. · 1618 days ago

I LOVE Flashpoint. Hes an amazing colt. Its dissapointing to hear hes retired. What will they be doing with him? I know if they sell him I would wanna buy him!
I've been following this horse since he beat simba story in his maiden....THIS HORSE IS THE REAL DEAL!!!! Won alot of money on flashpoint and will continue to do so!!
Does anyone know where Flashpoint is going next? Is he still on the Derby trail? (if he makes it in w/ his earnings)
  • arazi · I can't see how he would still be on the trail. They will probably be sprinting from now on. · 2212 days ago
Very interesting breeding. Lots of speed, with a ton of talent, but just a bit of stamina injected in. That little bit of stamina is what may help him go long.
If he can get two turns, I would say legit contender, got him in the box
I like this, nervous people get all antsy. Thats why I will see what going to happen tomorow at Louisiana Derby, then we'll wait for the Florida next Sunday. Bam, he will be there running against Elite Alex or Dailed In.

I wouldn't forget him! No one thought Northern Dancer could get 10 furlongs - look what he did. Flashpoint has a little of that Northern Dancer in him! Plus best trainer to get him there - Dutrow!
  • Protagonist · Watchout! Don't rush out to boast yet! There are serious contenders who have something to say about it. Such as MUcho Macho Man, The Factor, and even Stay Thirsty, along with To Honor and Serve,Premier Pegasus, Plus the TRAINERS of these horses AREN'T interested in running Second to Dutrow. So put your suringes away over there in that Dutrow BARN! · 2228 days ago
Two Words, FORGET HIM! He's not going to get 10 furlongs with Two Punch in his bloodlines.
  • bigbrown2332 · Yeah, your right, I mean Bold Ruler couldn't sire any route horses, well except Secretaritat..but that will never happen. Oh yeah and Indian Charlie can't sire a horse that goes fater than a mile and an eighth, oh well uncle mo surley can, but that won't ever happen. One thing I can tell you is that this sport is unpredictable, you can't ever tell if they will get the distance or not. You can give your opinion, say that you don't like him for the Derby, but "forget him" is not nearly neccasary. The factor looked like a sprinter, anything can happen. although I'm not saying that Flashpoint will get the distance. · 2228 days ago
I think, a dime rider and weather will be in his favor: $50 or 60 to WIN. Because I don't question this COLT.
Beyers: Soldat - 96, R Heat Lightning - 98, Flashpoint - 102.
  • LDP91 · Don't really get the 98 for R Heat. The race was easily one of the faster races run that day, both in final time and splits. Soldat's splits and final didn't really impress me too much. · 2253 days ago
  • ajump08 · The track was a little slow at Gulfstream yesterday, so I believe the speed figures are fair eventhough the times are slower than many of the races throughout the meet. My evidence to say this is that both Soldat and Travelin Man ran faster in their last starts, and it is highly unlikely both would digress 2nd off the layoff, or in Travelin Man's case 2nd career start. · 2253 days ago
I'm only comparing this effort to the times of the Fountain of Youth. But the fractions and final time relative to the "Youth" seem very fast. I'm curious what the Beyer speed rating will be? I'm a little suspicious of Dutrow, and performance enhancing games. "
Flashpoint has speed top and bottom of his pedigree. Flashpoint’s dam won half of her eight starts, including a stakes race. She is inbred to the blue hen Raise You through her third sire Raise A Native and his full sister, Toast Of The Town, who is Two Punch’s third dam.
Turned back early challenge from 1/5 favorite Simba's Story en route to 6 1/4 length victory in Jan. 15 MSW @ Aqueduct; should bear watching down the road...

  • gardenesque1 · Looks like the Hutcheson is next. “At this point we’re not thinking about the Kentucky Derby because we don’t think he’s that type of horse,” said Fort. “I think he is a fast horse, and there’s nothing wrong with winning one of those sprint races in Saratoga. We’ll pick our spots.” · 2295 days ago
