What the Nation is saying about Elusive Kate...

Wasn't her day. She can do better
Elusive Kate wins her second straight G1, beating the David Wachman trained Duntle by 2-1/2 lengths to win the G1 Prix Rothschild at Deauville, also giving Elusive Kate back to back wins in the Prix Rothschild.
Elusive Kate returned to the scene of some of her greatest efforts for a wire-to-wire success in the Group 1 Falmouth Stakes on Friday at Newmarket, but it wasn't without controversy as the filly drifted all the way across the track - resulting in a lengthy stewards inquiry before the result was con...Read More

  • jonquil · Not surprised in the least. Kate's always been a good filly, but on her best she can really bring it. Sky Lantern is still very impressive and I don't think this is a hit to her reputation at all. Both are really great to watch at their best. :) · 280 days ago ·
Elusive Kate holds off Sky Lantern by a neck to win the G1 Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket, giving Elusive Kate the third G1 success of her career. Last year's Falmouth winner, Giofra, finished 3rd with Purr Along in 4th.

  • travel_vic · Yes the back stretch turf is about 10 feet higher than the home stretch...LONGEST stretch on the turf in North America, kept in very good shape and is right up against the stands unlike most turf courses around. · 304 days ago ·
  • On The Gallop's · It gets very good compliments from trainers who ship in. They favor that course over the others in America. Interesting how the Turf course is the outside course when every other track has inner turf courses. The stretch is what 2 furlongs? or 3 ? · 303 days ago ·
Queen Elizabeth II Stakes Sponsored by Qipco (Group 1) A BLISTERING performance from Excelebration put this race to bed in a matter of strides as Aidan O'Brien's 10-11 favourite landed his third Group 1 with a dominant display which saw him trounce Cityscape and Elusive Kate with ease. • MarcelloMarocco · NOBODY will beat Excelebration. The field he beat in France was MUCH more loaded then who ever shows up for the BC Mile. Is the Mile gonna have what 7-8-9 GR1 winners in it?. Excelebration's form is outstanding, he has run every lick vs Frankel, and vs a loaded field in the Jacque de la Marois. Wise Dan needs everything he has in his tank to get to Excelebration in the lane. JMO. Don't get me wrong Wise dan to me is the best North American miler since Soaring free, or even before him in Da hoss. But wise Dan is no Da Hoss just yet, and Soraing free has the 7furlongs Turf record In America. Gonna be a GREAT race, and with Moonlight cloud shipping in also heck ya!!. · 560 days ago ·
  • icyhotboo · I wouldn't sell Wise Dan short, this is a fully mature 5 yo who always fires. If he gets beat they'll have to work for it and Excelebration and Wise Dan seem to be pretty close. Bad timing for Excelebration to have to butt heads with Frankel. · 560 days ago ·
A race which has been dominated by the raiding parties of France in recent years, the Group 1 Kingdom of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes will once again return to French shores after Francois Doumen's four year old, Siyouma, fended off the persistent challenge of Elusive Kate to ensure victory over the N...Read More

After that narrow defeat to Giofra in the G1 Falmouth Stakes back on July 13th, Elusive Kate bounces back to beat Golden Lilac in the G1 Prix Rothschild at Deauville, France on Sunday!! Love this filly.
Making her first appearance since a disappointing eighth-placed finish in the Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf, Elusive Kate did everything but win today at Newmarket.Read More
  • ILuvTurfRacing · Very impressed with this filly, indeed. Giofra's still quite lightly raced to be a 4yr.old filly, but her win in the G1 Falmouth Stakes runs her record to 6-4-1-0 lifetime now. Her only 2 losses having been a 5th place finish in the first start of her career last season and a 2nd place finish behind Cirrus Des Aigles in the G1 Prix Ganay back in April. I also thought Elusive Kate ran a hell of a race in the Falmouth Stakes, too. Not having been on the racetrack since she ran in the G2 BC Juvenile Fillies Turf back in November. · 644 days ago ·
  • ILuvTurfRacing · For those who've yet to see this filly race, you're in for a treat once you do see her. Giofra's still a quite lightly raced filly to be midway through her 4yr.old season. But she's quickly putting together a strong resume'. She was a beaten 5th in the very first race of her career. But then finished the 2011 season with a conditions race win at Compiegne and a listed stakes win at Longchamp. She began the 2012 season by beating the boys in the G2 Prix D' Harcourt at Longchamp, followed by a 2nd place finish behind Cirrus Des Aigles in the G1 Prix Ganay which was only the second time she'd ever been beaten. But she had the likes of Reliable Man, Wigmore Hall, and Saga Dream in behind her in the Prix Ganay at Longchamp. This was a stellar field of some of the best 3 and 3+yr.old fillies and mares racing in Europe right now that Giofra beat on Friday in the G1 Falmouth Stakes on Newmarket's July Course. Running her record to 6-4-1-0 for her career to date. I was also very impressed with the gritty effort by Elusive Kate. I would imagine that trainer John Gosden would have to be very pleased with that effort from his star filly against such a tough, competitive field. Having been off of the racetrack herself since she ran in the G2 BC Juvenile Fillies' Turf back in November. The rest of the 2012 season also looks quite promising for Elusive Kate based on what I saw out of her today, IMO. · 644 days ago ·
