If nothing else, this game elicits passion on every level. Yesterday I wrote my reaction to the Horse of the Year results with thoughts going forward re: a future Rachel Alexandra-Zenyatta match-up(s) later this year. That’s what I thought I was doing, when threads about synthetic tracks broke out.....Read More
Einstein, a five-time Grade 1 winner during a career in which he banked nearly $3 million, has been retired from racing and will stand the 2010 breeding season at Adena Springs in Paris, Ky. According to a press release from Adena, Einstein suffered a minor soft tissue injury while training for the ...Read More
  • ruby · This just in. Einstein is unretired again. Wait, no, he's retired again. Okay, I'm confused. · 23 days ago
An advertisement playing on the in-house television system at Gulfstream Park on Friday afternoon talked about the newest stallion coming to Adena Springs this breeding season. That horse is Einstein.Read More
“With the close of each racing year comes the interesting problem of the best horse…In past years this was much easier than it is in the present. Today commercialism cuts an important figure, crowding old-fashioned ‘sportsmanship’ to the wall. Horses are no longer raced purely as ‘sport’ much as we ...Read More

Lightly raced Blame, ridden by Jamie Theriot, impressively rallied down the lane to win Friday's Grade 1 Clark Handicap at Churchill Downs. The three-year-old son of Arch covered the 1 1/8-mile race in...Read More
Three-year-old Blame ensconced himself as a leading player in next year's national handicap picture when he seized the lead from fellow sophomore Misremembered at the eighth pole and held on for a neck victory in the $460,600 Clark Handicap Presented by Norton Healthcare (gr. II) at Churchill Downs ...Read More
  • Rossington · I was really impressed by Blame's effort in the Clark Handicap today. Not really having the best of trip's and being able to overcome Misremembered and late charging Einstein and Giant Oak. This is definitely a colt to watch for in the future after making his "I'm for real" announcement in the Clark today. · 73 days ago
They call it a handicap, but not because of post positions, for crying out loud. And yet here's Einstein being asked not only to carry high weight of 123 pounds Friday in the 135th Clark Handicap, but to start from the outside in post 14 of the Churchill Downs starting gate. "What can you do?" asked...Read More
It's been a long and storied career for Einstein and his trainer Helen Pitts-Blasi. The long road which featured victories on all surfaces from coast-to-coast comes to an end when on Friday he takes on a full field for the Clark Handicap at Churchill Downs.Read More

This weekend's lineup is tremendous, with 16 graded stakes at Churchill, Aqueduct, and Hollywood. I'm especially looking forward to the 2-year-old races, as well as the Cigar Mile and Clark Handicap.Read More
Thanksgiving is not only a time for families to gather together and celebrate everything they have to be appreciative for but to reflect on the best parts of their lives.  For racing fans Thanksgiving is that plus the unofficial end to the racing season.  There are only two Grade I stakes ...Read More
Tiago, the 2007 Santa Anita Derby (G1) winner and half brother to ’05 Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Giacomo, will stand his first season for an advertised fee of $7,500 at Adena Springs Kentucky in 2010.Read More
Churchill Downs' final week concludes with the traditional Thanksgiving weekend stakes but begins with a new twist: racing on Tuesday. In recent years, Churchill has raced one Tuesday during the fall meet, either Election Day or Veteran's Day. With Veteran's Day on a Wednesday and no major election,...Read More
Three Clark H. (G2) hopefuls put in half-mile moves on Sunday, gearing up for their runs in Friday's $400,000 test going 1 1/8 miles at Churchill Downs. Stronach Stables' EINSTEIN (Brz) (Spend a Buck) covered four furlongs in :48 3/5 over Churchill's fast main track as he readies for his first start...Read More
The heavy lifting is all done and according to trainer Dallas Stewart, MACHO AGAIN (Macho Uno) is "ready to roll" for Friday's 135th running of the Clark H. (G2) at Churchill Downs. "I feel good about our chances," Stewart said of Macho Again, who is owned by West Point Thoroughbreds. "I like where ...Read More

  • arazi · I believe that sounds correct. · 79 days ago
  • Rossington · Devanni, yes that was said about Einstein. Before the Classic it was being stated that this would most likely be Einstein's last race. But I don't think his connection's counted on an 11th place finish in the Classic. I, for one, am personally glad that they're giving this great champion one more shot at going out with glory. And against a pretty competitive field in Misrembered, Bullsbay, Macho Again, Giant Oak, and Furthest Land. All the best to Einstein. I'll surely be sentimentally rooting for him to win the Clark Handicap. · 79 days ago
Einstein, one of the major disappointments of the 2009 Breeders' Cup when he finished 11th of 12 in the Classic last weekend at Santa Anita, could get another chance to end his racing career on a more positive note.Trainer Helen Pitts said Wednesday at Churchill Downs that Einstein is being seriousl...Read More

  • ruby · Couldn't agree more.... what a great, gutsy competitor. Einstein was the wise-guy play for many players on BC day... disappointing and strange he didn't run better... but essentially, the pace was too hot and everything came from behind in that race. · 88 days ago
  • Rossington · I just read a story yesterday on NTRA.com that was written and posted by Marty McGee of the Daily Racing Form. The story talk's about how Einstein is already at Churchill Down's and is working well. It also say's that just like in the Stephen Foster, Macho Again will likely face Einstein in the Clark Handicap. But the story goes on to mention Quality Road as a potential contender. Given the nature of his physical injuries, stitches in one leg, knocked out a tooth, a large hematoma on one leg, and a big bruise around one eye, plus the psychological trauma he experienced at the gate, and later trying to load him on the plane, I can't imagine Quality Road being ready or able to race this soon after the Breeders Cup. But, maybe I'm wrong. Maybe Pletcher look's at it as just like riding a bike. You fall off, you get right back on. I do hope, whether in the Clark or further down the road that Quality Road does return to racing fit and sound. I really do believe that this is a colt sitting on a world of talent who's best races have yet to be seen. As for Einstein, I hope he goes out in the Clark like the true champion he's been through the year's. · 85 days ago
If there is one thing you can always count on in the Breeders' Cup it's that it will have it's share of longshot winners and mid-price overlays who get lost in the handicapping frenzy that is so much a part of the event.Read More
