Floridaf · I'm on the fence about Secret Circle and completely agree with your assessment of the colt's abilities. If he can be rated to post slower opening fractions, I would say that there is a good chance he would run away from the field in the stretch. · 32 days ago ·

DeadHeat · I think SC can stretch that speed over a mile, but I think a longer distances, even if he wants to lead, he needs to learn to rate on the lead. The only horses that were not burned in the BCJS were SC himself and Shumoos, only because that one was soooo far off the pace. SC is very very talented. I honestly think he could do a 22 opening quarter and get away with it at 9f. But he needs to prove he can relax in order to get 10f. · 32 days ago ·

ajump08 · This race is going to be all about Secret Circle, from start to finish. The two turn mile over the lightening fast surface will probably be an easier trip than the six furlongs over the very tiring track at Churchill Breeders' Cup day. I actually think Out of Bounds will be better with even more distance, dam won Breeders' Cup Distaff and Discreet Cat pulled of the UAE Derby going 9.5 furlongs. Hierro is a real talent, and is probably more ready to run than Out of Bounds who the connections will be taking their time with. · 32 days ago ·

However, it sounds like if he does well here he'll ship out, probably to Oaklawn like Baffert did with Lucky and Convayence and The Factor. icyhotboo · Going to take an extraordinary race by any horse to beat this colt. He still had gas in the tank at CD and could have gone around again without trouble. I love horses out of Dixieland Band Mares even as a great grand sire let alone sired. Going the half in 44 2/5 and still being able to handle schmoos says a lot. Looking for the tri and super here. I still have to look at the form just going from memory so far. #3-#2 look like 2nd, 3rd choice but I'm going to hit the ALL buttom here somewhere in the rear as randomness appears more frequently there. · 32 days ago ·

GreatSOB · Yea, it looks like Secret Circle didn't use his speed earlier enough. I thought he'd jump out and be the pace setter and then just hope not to run out of gas down the back. By settling into 2nd, it opened up for Out of Bound to use the "Shumoos strategy" and catch him down the stretch. · 31 days ago ·

icyhotboo · Horse racing is the most luck dependant gambling I have ever participated in, either as an owner or bettor. As far as betting it runs in streaks as you know. That was a nice pick on the #2 Out of Bounds as I wouldn't have reversed it as I thought the #4 was by far the best.After seeing your remarks I looked a lot closer and loved the bloodlines.I also handicap a lot of races that are interesting with but no intention of betting, it's fun. DavidBenning · Eddington, trained by (it'll come to me...) ummmm (his name is on the tip of my tongue) what's his name, was my Derby horse, but I'll tell you when this colt really shined - when he hit the turf and I'm going to be very curious to see how his offspring do on that surface, including this smooth mover, who undoubtedly soothed Baffter's wounded heart coming not long after his terrific 3yo filly lost a heartbreaker to It's Tricky. Is there anyone in the moden era of horseracing who has endured tougher beats than Baffert? Give the man credit, he's a testament to the kind of resolve it takes to not only survive the bad beats but to rise above them and risk it all again. I take my hat off to him. · 198 days ago ·

CauseForConcern · I agree with you, David. The first to break his heart was Cavonnier. He had the Derby in '96, but he didn't see Grindstone on the far outside. He was coasting home. And then, Silver Charm and Real Quiet. Wow, his career is unbeliievable with setbacks. I believe Eddington was trained by Pletcher. One thing that struck me as odd about this horse, was he was a closer, yet he ran up on the front end with Smarty Jones. I felt their instructions were to take out Smarty, at all costs, and it paid off. They weren't intending on winning the race, they just wanted to make sure Smarty didn't win the Triple Crown. Much like Woody Stephens didn't want Winning Colors to win the Preakness, when he sent Forty Niner into the backstretch, to take Winning Colors 6 wide. · 197 days ago ·
