Poor, poor Shirreffs is expected to make another Zenyatta out of a claimer.

No basis for this statement--she is no claimer. I respect that Shirreffs is not rushing this filly, giving her time for her to mature and grow into her enormous frame. I will agree that there is a lot of expectation and speculation that she will perform close to Zenyatta-level--if that's what you meant Cocoa.

Thank God the filly doesn't feel this pressure of the great older sib. Can't imagine the connections do either actually. And I was wondering too where t_vic was, miss him. Didn't the dam, Vertigineux have a colt by ?? who should be about of age to start, 2 maybe? Will check Larry Zapeye videos.

There's a colt in there, either a year older or younger than Eblou, by Ghostzapper maybe?. Sold for a truckload at Keeneland and somewhere in LarryZapeye's 350+ videos.

cocoa, no one knows that; not saying you couldn't be claire voyant. AnnaK, The only half brother, so far, of Zenyatta is the turf allowance winner, Souper Spectacular, '07 by Giant's Causeway, that began racing at age 3. He hasn't raced since last January, when he finished a close fourth in the Fort Lauderdale Stakes, but he's been working out at Payson Park Training Center, steadily and works are increasing in length. Z's other half siblings are the females: Where's Bailey, '02 by Aljabr, that began racing at 2, mainly a turf miler, she had 5 wins in 21 starts, with one of those wins in the ungraded Remington Park Oaks, and a close third in the ungraded Lyrique at Louisiana Downs. She is the dam of Zenyatta's nephew Wonder Gulch, '08 by Thunder Gulch, and Z's niece, Yattasmokem, '09 by Smoke Glacken, both unraced. Her '11 filly by Street Cry(Z's sire) is unnamed. Next big sis is the millionairess, Balance,'03 by Thunder Gulch, that started racing at age 2, in October of '05, winner of the grade 1 Santa Margarita, plus Santa Anita Oaks gr.1 and Las Virgenes gr.1, whose only bad races where when she left the state of California. She is the dam of the high priced colt you may be thinking of, Mr.Besilu, '09 by A.P. Indy, and the 2010 colt, Go Nineteen, by Street Cry. 1/2 sis Treasure Trail '06 by Pulpit, only raced 4 times, twice at two and twice at three, was retired early and is the dam of an '11 filly by Street Cry. Then Souper Spectacualar in '07, '09 filly Eblouissante by Bernardini, followed by two more half-sisters to Z, both by Henrythenavigator, '10 and '11

cocoa, I know you just made the irreverent statement to spark conversation, but the trainer is not being pressured by the owner who well knows the slow developing ways of these huge females. You know I told you she reminds me of Ruffian--in looks only, so I'll still give her a chance 'til we see what she has in a race.

John knows what he is doing. True, she won't be another Zenyatta (there will NEVER be another Zenyatta). John knows it, the Moss' know it. However, I believe she will be a Barn 55 winner, just a late bloomer.

So far, she's slow, but could surprise in an actual race, and he is getting incrementally faster. Like I said in another thread, there was one horse that started in a Florida Stakes recently, first time at age 5, so there is hope. Lots of anticipation with this one, as she is a sibling of a very famous mare and those wondering what the new colt might be like will be wanting to see how his closely-related aunt does.

Shirreffs won't enter her before she's ready, and that will be to her advantage. Pushing back racing gives her time to grow and mature and will ultimately be better for her joints, tendons, etc. And cocoa, please don't call up TV. lol

People tend to forget that Zenyatta didn't even make her first start until the very end of her 3 yr old year. It seems like it takes this line of horses a little longer to mature. We just have to be patient. They will start her when she is ready.

there is simply no way to establish the percentage of genome that one sibiling has with another unless you sequence both for analysis. Could be as small as 20 as great as 80 percent. No one can know withhout hard data.

the annals of racing a littered with brothers and sisters to champions who were forgotten once they hit the track. Ribot had several as did Northern Dancer; Same potenital horse, on paper, and that is where the comparison ended. Lightning rarely stikes twice.

Many people may not know that Man O' War had full brothers and sisters as Mahubah was bred back to Fair Play. They never turned out to be much on the track. One of his sisters though was a good foundation mare. You know what they say lightening doesnot strike the same place twice.

Man O' War was #2 from the cross, Masda beat him. Masda's horrible temper lowered Big Red's price a good bit, as did his appearance as a yearling.

From DRF.com - Trained like Zenyatta by John Shirreffs, Eblouissante worked five furlongs from the gate in 1:02.60. Shirreffs said last month that Eblouissante could make her career debut at Hollywood Park in coming weeks.

You can train her like Zenyatta, but the real question is will she run like Zenyatta. I haven't seen many top full brothers or half brothers and sisters amount to much. Moccasin, Ridan and Lt. Stevens are the full relatives that are an exception. Bupers was a decent half brother.

I don't understand the big deal. This is an unraced filly, in racing it is VERY easy to have a filly to who pedigree does not matter. Look at all of the attempts for Barbaro #2! Not a single one is close to as good as him and I doubt ever will be.

cocoa, I think Eblouissante has gotten more attention than the other half-sisters and one half brother of Zenyatta because she now has the same trainer as her older sister, lives in her stall, and is near black and huge and reminiscent of another famous filly. In fact, I have noticed the similarity in those E photos of her standing near orange cones (Eblouissante's fb album "In Training") I don't think she'll run like that one though. We'll see what she can do, whenever she makes a race. There was a horse making his first start in a Florida turf stakes this winter, at age 5. I'd have to look that one up.

Were those questions to me, tv? Okay,1. no, or none. 2. Not many. I'm a pre-racing fan of this filly, so no need to go off, just that this is the first time I've even seen an average range time for one of her workouts and I know she's huge-normous, but I'm not the only one wondering if she'll even race at age three. That's all.
