Something is just not right with this mare. She has proven twice she is distanced by stakes class, and minor stakes class at that, fillies. Her works this year have been uninspired. She started her career hot, but has shown nothing this year to warrant keeping her in training.

  • coyne.kaylor · I think they will keep pushing until she gets blacktype (or breaks down) before the send her to the broodmare barn. · 950 days ago
  • coyne.kaylor · Not that they're pushing her that hard, just not placing her in the right spots. · 950 days ago
mares are 5 years old and up
"something's wrong with eblouissante," yeah trevor, she's just not that good

  • kaitlinefree1 · she does belong on the grass. · 976 days ago
  • Lmaris · Nothing indicates she would better on turf. Other than wishful thinking. California turf courses are not forgiving. Even turf specialists train better on dirt, and run better against the modest fields she has faced. It is being optimistic to call her an allowance quality mare, as she only has ever beaten maidens and optional claimers. · 950 days ago
Ebby to make her 2nd start this year in less than an hour ... in the Adoration (G3).

So disappointing. I thought she was a closer, then in her last two races she's up near the front. Can a horse shift styles like that and prevaail? Just asking.

oops. Is a scratch in today's Santa Lucia.

Her previous races indicated she's a closer like her famous sister. Being pulled into the pack early is just not her style. I think she did great considering the long layoff.
Zenyatta’s half-sister Eblouissante couldn’t hold off Macha late and ran second as the 3-5 favorite in yesterday’s second race, an allowance test at 1 1/16 miles. The 5-year-old daughter of Bernardini out of the Kris S. mare Vertigineux held a one-length lead into the stretch but finished 1 ¼ lengths behind Macha. “She just got a little tired at the end,” said John Shirreffs, who trains Eblouissante for owners Jerry and Ann Moss. “She put herself in the race a little early. She was a little keen and she didn’t finish.”
i'd love to see this gorgeous mare on the grass. i think she may be at home there.

  • kaitlinefree1 · Z was special, she could run on anything. but i do agree that synthetic & turf would be more of Ebby's forte. after i posted this i was somewhat thinking synthetic / cushion. · 1070 days ago
Well, that was disappointing, though it would be an easy win...

  • Sullivan · Surprising no one else has noticed this but her family runs best on turf. Zenyatta was just so overwhelming it didn't matter. Wait until they switch her. Then you'll see. · 1070 days ago
  • travel_vic · No matter what this one could no, the invevitable comparisons would NEVER allow this one any independent room · 1070 days ago
I’m certainly no expert on horses but it appeared that she used too much energy before the race. She was fighting coming out of the paddock and wound up doing Dressage steps in place… which reminded me of Zenyatta. From the info I’ve read, it appears that she has the ability but not the discipline in spite of great trainers, jockeys and exercisers. Hope she keeps racing though because just looking at her makes me happy.

  • tmallios1 · My serious apologies, did not know Charlie passed on. Shows you how much i follow the Breeding game. I will leave that up to the ones that really know what they are talking about. I just do not think she has one trait to be a very nice horse. She is just not that fast, she was not fast last year. · 1070 days ago
Stick a fork in her racing career, and send her to the shed. 5years old with just 4 starts and no win other than maiden and optional claiming. She has never had less than 2 months between races, so that delays a 2015 foal that much lomger.

  • rafirox · She's not a bad racehorse. She can run a little. Not G2 or G1. But Allowance + LS is her class level. Weak G3's can be in her range, too. She's not bad at all. Trying the lawn seems interesting. · 1070 days ago
  • myjumper21 · I would still like to see her do some more races. · 1070 days ago
