  • ekindy · It normally takes a race this lopsided for me to go bridge jumping. But if she makes it to post time in one piece I'll put some big last second bucks in the show pool. · 2 days ago ·

Every time I see the John Shirreffs trained mare Eblouissante step out onto the track I think to myself, she looks so much like Ruffian. The long gracefulness of her stride to the nearly jet black coat, she is about as close a Ruffian reproduction as I have seen.Read More

  • EP Taylor · I didn't even mention Derby weekend at Epsom or St.Leger weekend at Doncaster. That was also just England. Go to France, and you have short meets at Deauville, Chantilly, Maison Laffitte and Longchamps that offer high quality racing. · 57 days ago ·

Her previous races indicated she's a closer like her famous sister. Being pulled into the pack early is just not her style. I think she did great considering the long layoff.
Zenyatta’s half-sister Eblouissante couldn’t hold off Macha late and ran second as the 3-5 favorite in yesterday’s second race, an allowance test at 1 1/16 miles. The 5-year-old daughter of Bernardini out of the Kris S. mare Vertigineux held a one-length lead into the stretch but finished 1 ¼ lengths behind Macha. “She just got a little tired at the end,” said John Shirreffs, who trains Eblouissante for owners Jerry and Ann Moss. “She put herself in the race a little early. She was a little keen and she didn’t finish.”
i'd love to see this gorgeous mare on the grass. i think she may be at home there.

  • kaitlinefree1 · Z was special, she could run on anything. but i do agree that synthetic & turf would be more of Ebby's forte. after i posted this i was somewhat thinking synthetic / cushion. · 61 days ago ·

Well, that was disappointing, though it would be an easy win...

  • Sullivan · Surprising no one else has noticed this but her family runs best on turf. Zenyatta was just so overwhelming it didn't matter. Wait until they switch her. Then you'll see. · 61 days ago ·

I’m certainly no expert on horses but it appeared that she used too much energy before the race. She was fighting coming out of the paddock and wound up doing Dressage steps in place… which reminded me of Zenyatta. From the info I’ve read, it appears that she has the ability but not the discipline in spite of great trainers, jockeys and exercisers. Hope she keeps racing though because just looking at her makes me happy.

  • tmallios1 · My serious apologies, did not know Charlie passed on. Shows you how much i follow the Breeding game. I will leave that up to the ones that really know what they are talking about. I just do not think she has one trait to be a very nice horse. She is just not that fast, she was not fast last year. · 61 days ago ·

Stick a fork in her racing career, and send her to the shed. 5years old with just 4 starts and no win other than maiden and optional claiming. She has never had less than 2 months between races, so that delays a 2015 foal that much lomger.

  • rafirox · She's not a bad racehorse. She can run a little. Not G2 or G1. But Allowance + LS is her class level. Weak G3's can be in her range, too. She's not bad at all. Trying the lawn seems interesting. · 61 days ago ·

She's back on the 13th! yay!
  • Age of Reason · At first glance, ya might think it's a foregone conclusion and that E. should (SHOULD...) make short work of this field: 2/13, Race 2, N/w $10k 2X etc etc. It's only a five horse field but there are also some salty runners in here who come to fight every time. The 1 (Melanistic) has made 30 starts and won 10; Hollendorfer's filly (Macha) was graded-placed last year (albeit on turf). Good thing is, Eblouissante's E numbers are just as good as the rest of 'em even though she has started vastly fewer times: room for improvement. Should be interesting! · 64 days ago ·

  • UnionRagsRules · I don't think she's slow. She's just not as quick or fast as Queen Z. But really, who is? No shame in that. I think she could at least be a solid G3 mare. And wow, she was just cruising in that workout. When she actually kicks it up a gear she could be G2. I stay reserved on her for now. · 72 days ago ·
