Older Comments about Dynaformer...

Just curious to hear some opinions on this filly's conformation. http://www.flickr.com/photos/hoosiershadow/8001831889/
"He was pure alpha male... big, powerful, dominant ... a three quarter ton, 17-hand tower of attitude and temper, who might have gnashed your finger off as soon as he looked at you, who bent steel bars on his stall door like so much Play-Doh, and who commanded fear tinged respect for all around him- including other horses." -Mary Simon. I really love Dynaformer. He was one of the few old school stallions around. Not the modern prototype fast and early, one and done. He was one of the few stallions who passed down stamina, soundness, durability, and turf excellence. Point of Entry, multiple grade one winner, Starformer, grade 3 winner, Ioya Bigtime, and the ill but beloved Barbaro were among his progeny. He started out with what? A $5,000 stud fee? And worked his way up to $150,000. One of the best modern, influencial sires. Roberto, Hail To Reason, Nashua, Ribot were horses in his intermediate pedigree. I sure hope his line and legacy live on through his decendants.
The first two finishers of the G3 Sycamore Stakes ( 1 1/2 m, T) were Dynaformer babies. He sure can throw out some fantastic turf runners.
  • kay.robinett · hugely hoping one of his intact sons such as point of entry or brilliant speed or ioya bigtime can carry on his sireline his stamina his toughness and even his competative herd stallion furocious atittude. · 1047 days ago
Have Young Stallion Picture of Dynaformer standing outside gate of home signed by W something Mills for sale.
A quote from Dr. Jim: "Dynaformer told us when it was his time to go," said Dr. Jim Morehead, Three Chimneys' resident veterinarian. "Amazingly, he had been comfortable after his initial crisis on April 14 and had been able to go to his paddock daily. A normal horse would not have survived his initial cardiac episode. He did everything on his terms, including deciding when he'd had enough."
IMO, Dynaformer was the best sire to American and International TB racing to date. I first heard of him when I was 13 and was in love ever since. Sadnes does not begin to express how much sorrow is in my heart for this tough old man. His death falling on his son, Barbaro's, ninth birthday is beyond eery, but the universe works in mysterious ways. I love you Dynaformer, you will be missed and remembered not only as a fond memory but as a legend.
VERY SAD AND ON BARBARO'S BIRTHDAY :(
God Bless you and rest you in peace.
R.I.P Dynaformer :'(
I totally agree with Opalisa
Sad day, rest in peace big guy :(
Stellar sire has been pensioned after a "cardiac event" today... I wonder how many foals we have from this-2012, his last crop?

  • opalisa · Do you really think this horse should continue to be bred until he dies? He should have been retired from breeding years ago. I can't believe they kept using him at 27 years of age. · 1231 days ago
  • travel_vic · Northen Dancer was active until very late in his life · 1231 days ago
