Aidan O'Brien has announced post-Diamond Jubilee Stakes the G1 Darley July Cup on Newmarket's July Course will be the next target for Due Diligence after his very game 2nd in the G1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Ascot. Ironically, trainer Edward Lynam who won the G1 King's Stand Stakes with Sole Power and G1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes with Slade Power was quoted as saying that Due Diligence will likely face both of them at Newmarket in the July Cup.
  • jonquil · Not surprising at all. Aljamaaheer will also probably be there. The current card for the July Cup's possible entries is pretty interesting - I'm looking forward to seeing which entries will run. · 183 days ago
Due Diligence just ran a cracker of race in the G1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes, narrowly beaten by Slade Power, and as we speak the stewards are actually looking at the finish because Slade Power coming over in front of Due Diligence near the wire. I don't think the placings will be reversed though.
  • jonquil · The placings stand. Slade Power won by 1 1/2 lengths to Due Diligence in second beating Aljamaaheer in third by a head. · 184 days ago
On Saturday, Coolmore sends out their 2 former American based horses to represent them in the G1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal-Ascot. Jockey Ryan Moore has the mount on Due Diligence and jockey Joseph O'Brien will ride Darwin in the race for trainer Aidan O'Brien.
  • ILuvTurfRacing · Have a feeling that we might see Due Diligence run a big race on Saturday in the G1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes. I like that Ryan Moore has the mount on him since Joseph O'Brien chose to ride Darwin, who so far has looked a bit of a 7f specialist racing on turf in Europe, IMO. · 186 days ago
  • jonquil · It'll be interesting to see how he fares amongst this group. It does seem a bit of a better chance without Hot Streak and several others, but Astaire is also entered and I'd like to see if he improves on his last race any. Astaire was one of my two personal favorite 2yos last year along with Fig Roll, so it's been good to see him having some success as a 3yo. · 186 days ago
Won the Lacken Stakes to Sailors Swan in 2nd, Shining Emerald in 3rd, and Sudirman in 4th.

  • Euro Trash · Though he did look good, this was just a listed race and he will need to progress much more to be a contender in a much classier field. I am not saying he cannot as it looks as though he does have class, but it is early days · 203 days ago
  • jonquil · Exactly. The best he took on here was, what, Sudirman? By the end of last year it became clear how overrated Sudirman had been - definitely not even a top class field by the 2yo sprint form. If Hot Streak or possibly even Astaire had been in the field I might've been more impressed. I'll really be impressed if he can do what Hot Streak's already doing and take on the older sprinters like Sole Power and manage a placing/showing much less a win. If he wins in that company then I'll be really impressed, heh. · 202 days ago
Coolmore has 3 horses, Due Diligence, Darwin, & Cristoforo Colombo that hold entries into the G2 Duke of York Stakes over 6f at York on May 14, 2014. It will be intersting to see if Aidan O'Brien actually sends Due Diligence to York to try to turn him into a 6f turf sprinter?
