What the Horse Racing Nation is saying about Dublin...

With a view to the future, it’s possible that the most significant race of the final weekend of springtime in the U.S. was the Pegasus Stakes (gr. III) June 19 at Monmouth. This is the time to look for potential “second season” stars, and with a decisive 1¾-lengths win here Afleet Express placed him...Read More
With a view to the future, it’s possible that the most significant race of the weekend in the U.S. was the Pegasus Stakes (gr. III) at Monmouth. With plenty to play for as far as leadership of the 3-year-old male division is concerned, this is the time to look for potential "second season" stars, an...Read More
Dublin has been withdrawn from consideration for the 142nd Belmont Stakes on June 5, meaning no horse will have run in all three Triple Crown events this year.Trainer D. • Tiz_A_Cal_ Bred · I thought his Preakness was a good effort seeing how he is the only losing horse that closed in the race. I was looking forward to a good Belmont effort. So much for that.... · 109 days ago
  • callieracer · I am a bit disappointed that DUBLIN will not go in the BELOMT i have being doubling my wagers on each occassion he race . I think he will be the CAT THEIF that goes on and Surprise in the BREEDERS CUP with Pat Day · 109 days ago
I haven't been all that kind to Garret Gomez in this blog over the past two years and I'm feeling kinda sheepish about it today. I've gave him the business when he was 0 for Del Mar early in the 2008 meet last and I piled on his non-Triple Crown winning ways before last year's Derby, with the old "c...Read More
I told my wife I received more press for [trainer] Bob [Baffert] taking me off Lookin At Lucky than I would have had if I'd ridden him in the Preakness and won. People asked me how it felt to see him hit the wire in front under Martin Garcia, and sure, to be honest with you, I was disappointed I was...Read More
The Triple Crown trail comes to an end at Belmont Park on Saturday, June 5, with the 142nd running of the Grade 1, $1 million Belmont Stakes, which is expected to draw several contenders from the Kentucky Derby and Preakness as well as a number of 3-year-olds just rounding into top form.   Fir...Read More

On Saturday I was in attendance at Belmont Park to watch Milwaukee Appeal race to a third place finish in the Shuvee won by Funny Moon. Milwaukee Appeal was making her first start of 2010 and the Woodbine Oaks winner made a good account of herself in tough company chasing home highly regarded place ...Read More
Another year, another failed Triple Crown bid. It is now 32 years - and counting - since the last US Triple Crown winner, Affirmed. This time the dream was over in the second leg, the Preakness Stakes on Saturday, and over roughly three furlongs from home, the point at which the Kentucky Derby winne...Read More

I can’t imagine anyone will have any alibis after Saturday’s 135th Preakness Stakes is run at Old Hilltop, otherwise known as Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Md. The forecast is for sunny skies and comfortable temperatures in the 70s, the top horses received favorable post positions, and all ...Read More
D. Wayne Lukas loves to bring horses to the Preakness. Once at Pimlico, the Hall of Fame trainer has a knack for making news both on and off the track. It was back in 1980 when he first made news on the track at Pimlico, rolling into Baltimore with a horse named Codex who turned out to be the first ...Read More
  • humphrey · Now that the juicer has been exposed see how many big time owners run to have their horses crippled before they are 3 1/2. · 119 days ago
  • humphrey · Check out how many horses that D. Wayne trained actually made it to the track at 4 other than the few he that he took over from other trainers: Steinlin or Criminal Type. Of course his worst, other than all of those euthanized on the track, was the pitiful picture of the horse of the year, Lady's Secret bolting on the far turn. Way to destroy them D. Wayne! · 119 days ago
Riding racehorses is a unique profession, that's for sure. You'll see that fact played out with me in the Preakness this weekend. I'm talking about my mount change from Lookin at Lucky to Dublin, of course. Here's a horse I rode in every single start of his career -- to some pretty big wins and...Read More
Besides the shorter distance, smaller field, and venue there are other differences between the Preakness and the Kentucky Derby. The rush to get to Churchill Downs and have horses get accustomed to the surface is replaced by a fashionably late-arriving crowd in Pimlico. As of Tuesday morning, the Pi...Read More

Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to Pimlico we go for the second leg of the Triple Crown, the 135th Preakness Stakes, in which Super Saver, the Kentucky Derby winner, will face another large field, though the complexion of the race has changed dramatically from the lineup at Churchill Downs, both in terms of ...Read More

The performance of the week was turned in by Fly Down in the Grade 2 Dwyer Stakes at Belmont Park. The promising Nick Zito runner earned a 100 BSF for his romping off the pace win over Drosselmeyer and must be viewed as a major player in the Belmont Stakes. Zito also has Derby runner-up Ice Box...Read More
With just a few days till Saturday's Preakness, our voters have predictably picked Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver as the favorite to win the second leg of the Triple Crown. • curlin · I don't care who wins as long as it is either super saver, lookin at lucky, conveyance, jackson bend, or dublin. i know this sounds wierd but i hate when crappy horses win prestigious races. i don't want a horse who has raced 8 or so times and has won twice. actually it doesn't have to be a great horse but if it isn't i want it to have a good pedigree or to be trained buy a top trainer. i hate when crappy horses like mine that bird trained by a no body of a trainer chip woolly comes and win a race that should be won by a trainer who races at a real track. and by a real track i mean: if it isn't in Kentucky, Florida, new york, Illinois, California, and i guess Arkansas (oaklawn) or Louisiana (fairgrounds ) your not racing at a real track. · 121 days ago
