Today I stumbled upon an old article on ESPN's web-site in their horse racing section about Dubai Millennium's win in the 2000 Prince of Wales's Stakes. Frankie Dettori was recovering from his plane crash injuries at the time, so American jockey Jerry Bailey rode for Dettori in that race. These are Jerry Bailey's comments from that article about Dubai Millennium: "He had the ability to run at a very high speed and run other horses into the ground. But still have enough left to hold off any closer. That translates into a great horse. Cigar did that and Skip Away did that and this horse is right there with both of them." End quote. The article also said that Sheikh Mohammed was pointing Dubai Millennium for the 2000 BC Classic but he broke his leg in a workout at Newmarket 3 months prior and had to be retired. How awesome would that have been to have seen Dubai Millennium thrown into what was already a monster field out there banging heads with Tiznow & Giant's Causeway. One can only look back now and wish.

I think his name is spelled wrong. Isn't it just one 'n'?
