What the Horse Racing Nation is talking about...

Godolphin's DESERT PARTY (Street Cry [Ire]) made a good-looking comeback in the $200,000 Mahab al Shimaal (UAE-G3) at Meydan on Super Thursday. Sidelined since his uncharacteristic 14th in the 2009 Kentucky Derby (G1), which he exited with an ankle injury that required surgery, the Saeed bin Suroor ...Read More
In his first race as a 4yr.old, and if I'm not mistaken, his first race since the 2009 Kentucky Derby, Desert Party looked like the horse that soundly beat Regal Ransom in the 2009 UAE 2000 Guineas. He took to the inside, stalking the pace and opened up on the field to win the 2010 "Mahab Al Shimam" at Meydan racecourse in Dubai. An impressive return to the races for a colt that before being sidelined by injury after the 09' Kentucky Derby, looked to have a bright racing future ahead of him. IMO.
Having been off of the track since his injury in the 2009 Kentucky Derby, the now 4yr.old Godolphin colt "Desert Party" returned to the track a winner in the Mahab Al Shimaal on 3-4-10, at Meydan racecourse in Dubai. He stalked right off of the pace for most of the race, then slipped right up the rail into the lead to draw away by about 3 lengths to win. He really looked impressive in his return to racing, but Desert Party has always raced well in Dubai.
Godolphin's Vale of York is set to return to competition on March 4 in the $250,000 Al Bastakiya, the middle jewel of the United Arab Emirates Triple Crown and one of six lucrative stakes at Meydan.Read More
  • Medlocke · I'd be the first to admit that Vale of York looked impressive in his win in the Breeders Cup Juvenile at Santa Anita back in November. But other than that run that he made over the synthetic main track at Santa Anita, all of his other racing has been done on turf at race tracks primarily in Great Britain. If Godolphin is looking to make a potential Kentucky Derby contender out of Vale of York, you'd think they would be looking to race him in some of the conventional dirt track Derby Prep races, just to see how he's going to respond to the surface. Based on how I figured the race out on paper, I think I’m going to structure plays around Friesan Fire and Deserty Party (I know, the post stinks, but he’s talented and offers good value). I will pair those horses up with longshot closers in third with a wide spread between them in second. I will al...Read More
Rain is in the forecast for Derby Day, and my best advice is to see how the track is playing before making any final decisions. If it is wet, some may move up and some may hate it, but many will run their normal race. If you like a horse in the Derby, trust that the connect...Read More

  • horses · Of course Regal Ransom's going in the Derby... he could be alone on the lead! Seriously, though, even though a lot of people look at him as possible lone speed... the Derby almost always seems to have a good pace. There's just something about that long straight away into the first turn, 20 horses, big screaming crowd, etc. (Yes, I remember War Emblem) But more often than not, there's a solid pace. That being said, Desert Party could be dangerous! · 327 days ago
The lowest priced horses at 5-1were Curlin and Pulpit, and Curlin had a troubled trip and came back the win the Preakness, and Pulpit came out of the race with career-ending injury. Is it an ideal way to go into the Derby ? Certainly not. ... Read More
