I was at the track when Demons Begone won the Arkansas Derby. His performance was the most impressive, by far, I've ever seen in person. It was no accident that he was the favorite at Kentucky. Too bad he bled in that race. He never ran quite the same after that. I wish the 1987 Arkansas Derby was available on YouTube cause it was one for the books.

  • Mary Z. · No; someone has that as a personal video. They could be reading this right now and they are just to mean to share it. Here's his half brother winning the Preakness. I'm looking at the awful San Fernando entries right now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6EwK3mvp0k&playnext=1&list=PL4BAB04A5394117D4&feature=results_video · 1265 days ago

I was at Lowe's Home Improvement store in Hot Springs, AR about a month ago. I;m looking at hardware and I hear a voice behind me asking a Lowe's employee for help. It was Terry Wallace, track announcer for many years at Oaklawn. I introduced myself and told him that 25 years later, I still get chill bumps when I think of his 1987 stretch call of the Arkansas Derby when he exclaimed, "LOOKOUT KENTUCKY...HERE COMES THE DEMON!!!" He said that even today, people STILL mention that call to him. What a great and approachable guy Mr. Wallace is. It was a great pleasure to meet him.

  • travel_vic · good guy for the game, good announcer for years, it was time to step down after that last very frustrating season when he lost the call numerous times. It would have been ashamed to have fired him, but the racing organization would have had no option but to do so. · 1317 days ago
  • travel_vic · Recently I have befriended the Woodbine harness caller who was privedged to have called both Some Beach Somewhere and San Pail.......Nice guy who really works at his craft. People do not realize how much preparation he goes through each night, the huge twitter and facebook crowd he keeps informed....NOT an easy job. · 1317 days ago
