What the Nation is saying about Declaration Of War...

Will Take Charge is an amazing racehorse. Not only has he flourished despite an almost unheard of demanding schedule by today’s standards, but the way he finishes every race, in which he has any chance at all to hit the wire first, is truly unique.Read More

  • CauseForConcern · Not really stating a conspiracy, but, when you can have all numbers involved, and exclude the first three favorites from the first 3 positions, I would think the payoff would be more generous. I understand the 10 cent bet, for we had a 10 cent bet, that cashed three times. Just looking at it from a greedy standpoint(ha!!). · 164 days ago ·
  • tmallios1 · The favorites where not strong favorites, there was not a 3/5 or prohibitive chalk to finish off the board that would of shaken things up.No the 10 cent bet is good for the small player,it has destroyed the supers for big players. Now to many hit the all button on 3/4 slots. So can no longer get value.Personally, the Dq was absolute destruction. Such is the game we play. · 164 days ago ·
For a horse who prior to Saturday had never stepped foot on a conventional dirt racetrack, at least to race competitively, I thought Declaration of War ran a monster race in the BC Classic. I was so hoping he would run really well in the Classic to silence the naysayers who said he wouldn't run as well on dirt as he has on turf, and IMO he did just that. He truly did Aidan O'Brien and team Coolmore very proud on Saturday. He may end up being War Front's first son going to stud that like his father is able to pass on the genes to run effectively on all 3 surfaces. A multiple G1 winner and G1 placed over multiple distances on turf, an unbeaten 3 for 3 lifetime on synthetic surfaces, and a 3rd place finish beaten only a head in arguably the biggest G1 race in the world that's ran on conventional dirt in the BC Classic. Very talented horse and I'll sure miss seeing him race again!!
MMM ran a great race and am so glad he won. Declaration of War, wow! Thought he was very impressive, especially with this being his and his jockey's first time racing on dirt.

  • icyhotboo · Many times disagreements/arguments happen but there are different kinds, civil, stubborn, and the I'm right at all costs which effectively kills any chance intelligence may prevail. I prefer the first where misunderstandings can and do happen sometimes happen, but like the original disagreement it should be able to be worked out inside the framework of the original civil argument. It's hard to do many times but worth the effort IMO. · 168 days ago ·

  • ILuvTurfRacing · @Buckpasser, Agreed. I really like DOW a whole lot because he's about as honest a horse as you'll find. You may be right, he may not be quite good enough to beat top American dirt horses like Game On Dude or Mucho Macho Man, but I sure wouldn't be surprised if he ends up getting a piece of the Classic provided he's ridden the way he needs to be by young Joseph O'Brien. · 173 days ago ·

He's definitely got the class to win a BC Classic, and there certainly can't be any excuses now about a bad post position draw, as Declaration of War drew PP #5 of 12. What remains to be seen is if he handles the switch from turf to conventional dirt or not? I make his chances as being better handling the switch than some of the horses Coolmore has sent in the past for the BC Classic from the Sadler's Wells bloodline.
Would rather see him in the Dirt Mile or mile

  • ruffianlover · My jumper your post was a complete contradiction to itself. First you say you agree with Northport why not run in the Classic. Then at the end you say why not run him in the BC Mile which is exactly what my post originally stated. For him to run against Wise Dan. Very confused by what you actually meant to say. · 179 days ago ·

  • ILuvTurfRacing · Declaration of War is a very classy horse that's all business once he's out on the track. This will obviously be his first time ever racing on conventional dirt, but War Front offspring has burning up all 3 surfaces in America and abroad. Plus, last season Declaration of War won the G3 Diamond Stakes over 10-1/2f on Dundalk's synthetic track in Ireland, which I've been told probably plays as close to being like conventional dirt as any synthetic track in Europe. The distance or the class isn't an issue at all with this horse. The only question that has to be answered is how he'll handle the switch to dirt? I don't know if Declaration of War will prove good enough to win the BC Classic or not? But I do think he gives Coolmore the best chance they've had of winning the race since Giant's Causeway in 2000 where the race has been held on conventional dirt and not synthetics. · 179 days ago ·

  • geldedridgling · IMO Obviously is the only American threat to Wise Dan, but his chances will be greatly compromised by horses like Silve Max or Little Mike, if he goes this direction. The later 2 horses have never and probably can't run as fast as Obviously on the pace but they can pester him enough to use him up before Dan uncorks his run. · 210 days ago ·

  • ILuvTurfRacing · If Coolmore run Declaration of War in the BC Classic I think it gives them the best chance of winning the race they've had when the venue has been held on conventional dirt since Giant's Causeway in 2000. DOW's pedigree suggest he should go well on dirt, and I'm convinced 10f suits this horse even better than a mile does. I would like DOW chances of beating the horses lining up for the BC Classic over trying to beat Wise Dan in the BC Mile. JMO. · 240 days ago ·
