would be interesting standing a year at stud in America. Is built beautifully,.
Declaration of War will stand for €40,000 in 2014, alongside fellow newcomers Camelot (€25,000) and Most Improved (€6,000) - all of the Coolmore Ireland fees can be seen here - http://bloodstock.racingpost.com/news/bloodstock/war-primed-for-stud-career-at-40-000/1561548/
  • Sullivan · I thought DOW was standing at Ashford. Interesting So You Think was reduced · 310 days ago
  • Northport · He has been destined for their Irish branch for some time, I think after Henrythenavigator they probably opted just to send him straight to Europe · 310 days ago
For a horse who prior to Saturday had never stepped foot on a conventional dirt racetrack, at least to race competitively, I thought Declaration of War ran a monster race in the BC Classic. I was so hoping he would run really well in the Classic to silence the naysayers who said he wouldn't run as well on dirt as he has on turf, and IMO he did just that. He truly did Aidan O'Brien and team Coolmore very proud on Saturday. He may end up being War Front's first son going to stud that like his father is able to pass on the genes to run effectively on all 3 surfaces. A multiple G1 winner and G1 placed over multiple distances on turf, an unbeaten 3 for 3 lifetime on synthetic surfaces, and a 3rd place finish beaten only a head in arguably the biggest G1 race in the world that's ran on conventional dirt in the BC Classic. Very talented horse and I'll sure miss seeing him race again!!

MMM ran a great race and am so glad he won. Declaration of War, wow! Thought he was very impressive, especially with this being his and his jockey's first time racing on dirt.

  • icyhotboo · Many times disagreements/arguments happen but there are different kinds, civil, stubborn, and the I'm right at all costs which effectively kills any chance intelligence may prevail. I prefer the first where misunderstandings can and do happen sometimes happen, but like the original disagreement it should be able to be worked out inside the framework of the original civil argument. It's hard to do many times but worth the effort IMO. · 318 days ago

Where is the praise for this guy? hes run a massive race only a long head from winning america's biggest race hes probably up there with the best horses in america and hes only run once lol

  • sosotricksy · Definantly a solid run to go out on, he lost by what .. an inch over a track no one thought he would even be in the money on. The Euros picked the right ones to send over. Hopefully the trend will continue next year. · 319 days ago
  • papillon · agree 100% he looked alomost as big as MMM and WTC--this year's BCC was clash of the titans! · 319 days ago
He's definitely got the class to win a BC Classic, and there certainly can't be any excuses now about a bad post position draw, as Declaration of War drew PP #5 of 12. What remains to be seen is if he handles the switch from turf to conventional dirt or not? I make his chances as being better handling the switch than some of the horses Coolmore has sent in the past for the BC Classic from the Sadler's Wells bloodline.
Would rather see him in the Dirt Mile or mile

  • ruffianlover · My jumper your post was a complete contradiction to itself. First you say you agree with Northport why not run in the Classic. Then at the end you say why not run him in the BC Mile which is exactly what my post originally stated. For him to run against Wise Dan. Very confused by what you actually meant to say. · 329 days ago
  • myjumper21 · Sorry if it's confusing, I meant I was agreeing with both of you and listing the reasons why lol.. sometimes I don't make sense :P · 324 days ago
Aidan O'Brien has officially announced now via the European racing media that Declaration of War will be retired to Coolmore Stud after he runs in the Breeders Cup Classic at Santa Anita.
Coolmore just tweeted that Declaration of War will be sent there after the Classic, looks like it will be his final race.
yes Declartion of War for the upset!

  • jonquil · I do, too! Looks like DOW is a good, tough one! Though I hope they'll make the BC a priority with this guy nonetheless~ · 391 days ago
  • EP Taylor · This is like the euro's shipping good turf horses to run the Dubai World cup on Dirt at Nad Al Sheba Racecourse. The look at how many they won vs the American Dirt horses sent over. · 391 days ago
Really hoping they bring Declaration of War back over for Breeders Cup, after all he is "USA" bred! Glad he kicked butt today!

  • amino998 · Read that Paddy Power is offering 10-1 but even that seems a bit short in August for a race he may or may not attempt. These ante-post bets helped make Coolmoore their $$$ {legitimately} · 392 days ago
Thank you

  • Northport · I too love that he brings horses over, even though in recent years they aren't always the 1st string. I agree with you OTG about Fame and Glory, one too many trips to the well with him I think · 432 days ago
  • amino998 · I side with AOB >> We saw how opinions from afar worked this year with Camelot. · 432 days ago
Completely different level turn of foot shown by Declaration of War in the Queen Anne Stakes than we saw out of him in the Locknge Stakes last month. Don't call this horse a G3 level horse anymore. As I very much suspected would happen, Animalk Kingdom had a lot of trouble handling that rolly straight mile course at Ascot. Very different than racing over flat, left handed racetracks. Well done to Aidan O'Brien and team Coolmore!!

  • Euro Trash · Joseph said Aiden told him that DOW was not 100% for his previous race and he had him there today. Team Valor is right. Animal Kingdom has been a valiant horse for them. · 456 days ago
  • On The Gallop's · Not GR3 anymore with a GR1. Now he is a GR1 horse ;) · 456 days ago
