Older Comments about Darwin...

Darwin struggled with the soft ground at the Curragh and finished last of 6 in the G3 Greenland Stakes over 6f on his 2014 seasonal debut.
  • ILuvTurfRacing · I think Darwin seems to have a problem I've seen a few horses in Europe have. 7f seems to be the only distance he excels at. 6f seems a bit on the sharp side for him and a mile seems to stretch him a bit further than ideal. The filly Viztoria that ran also ran in the Greenland Stakes is also a lot like that. Nearly all of her best career form has came racing at 7f. · 434 days ago

For anyone who was a fan of this horse when he raced in America or for those who still are fans, Darwin runs in the first race at Newmarket on Saturday, the G2 Challenge Stakes at 7f. Those races will be broadcast live on HRTV starting at 8:30 A.M. EST.

  • rafirox · Turfy, when he trained in Florida/New York as a baby, my friend was raving about him. He's always had talent, but I think he responded well to the lawn (Europe) rather than the dirt. His last out wasn't all that impressive, but he looked good in the Minstrel Stakes. I think this is a good distance for him, too. · 659 days ago

Darwin only 3rd today in the G3 Solonway Stakes in Ireland behind Brendan Brackan & Ansgar.
The son of Big Brown looks to make it a perfect 3 for 3 in Ireland in the G3 Solonoway Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday, supplemented into the race for $6,000 euros by trainer Aidan O'Brien.
was scratched today due to not the right ground
Darwin defeats Gordon Lord Byron and Leitir Mor to win the G3 Minstrel Stakes at the Curragh in Ireland. He's 2 for 2 now on turf in Ireland for trainer Aidan O'Brien.
Backed into 4/6 fav and takes the g3 Minstrel stakes by around 2 lengths from Gordon lord byron.
run tomorrow in the g3 minstrel stakes, should be a good race with gordon lord byron last seen running 4th in the diamond jubilee

wins on hes first start for obrien
Darwin is in fact in the barn of trainer Aidan O'Brien in Ireland now and is one several Coolmore horses pre-entered into the G2 Dante Stakes over 10-1/2f at York on May 16th. Hard to say whether he'll actually run in the Dante Stakes though since Coolmore has a half-dozen or more of their more promising 3yo pre-entered for the race at York. Darwin will also now race in the purple & white silks of owner Derrick Smith instead of the all dark blue silks of John & Susan Magnier, as Smith is now listed as Darwin's first or primary owner ahead of Susan Magnier & Michael Tabor since he was transferred to Aidan O'Brien at Ballydoyle recently.
According to Coolmore's Facebook page, Darwin has been transferred to Aiden O'Brien
‏@DerbyContenders: Nashua S. 4th-place finisher Darwin is sidelined & will target a BEL or SAR return.
Status update on Darwin? No works since the Nashua S. He looked like a monster compared to the other colts. Cue TV's 'roid comment below.
Not sure if this one would've won today, but after having to take up that sharply on the rail, he really had no chance. He's a lot better than the 4th suggests
On October 22, Darwin breezed a half mile in 49:07 (23/71) at Belmont Park.
Another great looking horse from the Pletcher barn, at longer distances he will flourish. So watch out for this one, he will be a great one.

  • Dressage3295 · agreed, really liking the Big Brown foals so far. Can't wait to see how they'll do in their 3 year old year · 1029 days ago
  • rafirox · Big Brown's crop is doing great so far. · 1029 days ago
Pretty good win for him today. Seemed a little green.
