The Breeders Cup F&M Turf Division and the Breeders Cup Turf division were both dealt big blows recently. As two of Europe's top older filly/mare's were retired just days apart. After accomplishing what has to be considered the crowning jewel of her career. By beating the top turf males and females in the world in the 2010 Dubai Sheema Classic. Dar Re Mi was retired during the middle of her 5yr.old season. The daughter of Singspiel was not only one of the top turf mares in the world. But one of the top turf horses, period, in the world. After winning the Sheema Classic. Dar Re Mi ran a disappointing 2010 Coral-Eclipse Stakes at Sandown. Finishing 4th in a race won by Twice Over. She was then scheduled next to race in the 2010 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes. She was scratched from that race with what was reported as a stone bruise to one of her hooves. Then, she also had to skip the Yorkshire Oaks in late August. A G1 race she'd won in 2009. Shortly after came the news of her retirement. Then, just days later came the news of 2009 Epsom and Irish Oaks winner, Sariska's retirement. Sariska had beaten Midday for the 3rd time in May in the G2 Middleton Stakes at York. Then, she ran an outstanding 2nd place effort to Fame and Glory in the G1 Coronation Cup at Epsom. Sariska was then scheduled to race again in the 2010 Yorkshire Oaks. A race she's finished 2nd in, in 2009 to Dar Re Mi. When the gates opened, Sariska stood there like a knot on a long. Refused to budge one step out of the starting gate. Thinking it was a fluke occurrence. Sariska was then entered in the 2010 Prix Vermille at Longchamp. Again, when the gates opened, Sariska refused to take a step out of the gate. Two G1 races in a row that Sariska dwelted in. She was immediately retired. Both Dar Re Mi and Sariska, along with Midday were the three best filly/mare's racing from Great Britain and Ireland. Midday remains the best filly in Europe right now. With three straight G1 win's to her credit. Dar Re Mi and Sariska will be sorely missed on the racetrack..
Dar Re Mi, a 2009 English champion and a group I winner in Dubai this year, has been retired from racing because of minor problems, according to the Daily Mail. The 5-year mare will became a broodmare for Lloyd Webber’s Watership Down Stud in England.Read More
GBI Racing’s stand-out race of the week, and one of the highlights of the year, the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes on Saturday, July 24 at Ascot Racecourse, has attracted a high-class field of eight at the six-day declaration stage – including the mightily impressive Investec (English) D...Read More
Saturday’s feature race at Ascot, the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes (G1) features a well-matched field of eight, including 2010 Dubai Sheema Classic (G1) winner Dar Re Mi.  Most recently fourth in the Coral Eclipse Stakes (G1) at Sandown, well beaten by Twice Over, Dar Re Mi looks t...Read More
Twice Over went straight to the front and never looked back, cruising to a half-length victory in the Coral-Eclipse Stakes (Eng-I) at Sandown Park July 3.The victory gave legendary trainer Henry Cecil his fourth win in the Coral-Eclipse and his first win since he captured the race with Gunner B in 1...Read More
  • medlocke · After a disappointing Dubai World Cup in March. Twice Over has bounced back with an excellent 2nd place run to France's Byword in the Prince of Wales Stakes at Ascot. Then today, he just overpowered the Coral-Eclipse Stakes field at Sandown. Twice Over forged to lead early. Sheema Classic winner Dar Re Mi went with him for much of the race. But she didn't travel nearly as smooth as she did in Dubai in this race. Whereas, Twice Over was under a hand ride the nearly the entire race. Thomas Quealy never touched Twice Over with the stick until well inside the final furlong. Then, Twice Over wasn't weakening. He was just out on the lead alone, and become complacent and began to idol a bit. Sri-Putra and Viscount Nelson came charging late to close some ground and pass Dar Re Mi to finish 2nd and 3rd in the race. But Twice Over had the win in hand easily. Dar Re Mi ran 4th in the race. Zacinto, who just ran 4th to Goldikova, Paco Boy, and Dreameater in the Queen Anne Stakes at Ascot never figured in the race and ran 5th. This was his first start beyond 8 furlongs. Another short priced race favorite, Mawatheeq, pulled a B.C. Classic Quality Road, and refused to load for the Coral-Eclipse. He was scratched from the race at the gate. · 580 days ago ·

One tough race-mare right here. She's went head to head with the best of the best turf horses, both male and female in the world, and more than always held her own. This mare has dodged no challenger. The 2010 Sheema Classic should be her crowning jewel. Because she really did beat the very best turf males and females, worldwide, in racing. Beating Cavalryman, Spanish Moon, Presious Passion, Jukebox Jury, Golden Sword and others as far as colts. Also beating two great race-mares in Deem and Buena Vista. Great performance in the 10' Sheema Classic by Dar Re Mi.
Bob Baffert’s undefeated 3-5 shot, Conveyance, was loping along on an uncontested lead.  Expected early pressure from sprinter Classical Slew was nowhere to be seen.  Meanwhile, morning line second choice, Tempted to Tapit chose to stalk and offered no pace bother to the heavy favorite....Read More
In perusing the past performances for the 100 horses that were to run on this year's Dubai World Cup card, it struck me that most of these critters had earned enough. • Medlocke · William Buick got Dar Re Mi to settle early in the race, and she just got a beautiful trip in the 2010 Dubai Sheema Classic. Spanish Moon closed very strongly as well, but Dar Re Mi had enough left in the tank to run on by him. Then Spanish Moon got nailed, in a photo, right at the wire by Buena Vista for second. Presious Passion, as usual, ran himself right out of any chance of winning this race again. Golden Sword, a front runner himself, went out with Presious Passion, and stayed just about 2 or 3 lengths off of him to challenge the pace. But by the time the field hit the 400 meter mark, Presious Passion was DONE, and faded to dead last. Finishing 16th out of 16 starters. For the record, even though P.P. ran a great race against Conduit in the 09' B.C. Turf, getting quality races like that out of him has become a real rarity of late. Because of his running style, I have never, and will never bet dollar one on this horse. TJMO. · 678 days ago ·

WILLIAM BUICK made a dream start to his partnership with John Gosden as he gave Dar Re Mi a well-judged ride to land the Group 1 Dubai Sheema Classic. Buick had the mare settled in fifth position from the off in the 1m4f contest as Presious Passion made sure they went a good gallop... Read More
  • bband · Dar Re Mi ran huge today. Ironically, about 5 minutes before the race, on the simulcast signal, trainer John Gosden when asked about her chances, says he looks for her to run well, but "Let's be honest, its late March and she's a mare, I don't expect her to be at her best until later in the year." Good lesson why you should never listen to trainers and they don't even know when their horses are doing great. · 678 days ago ·

So many people have made such a big deal about Rachel Alexandra's ability to beat the colt's, when in reality the only note worthy colt she's ever beaten is Summer Bird. If you want to talk about a filly that's raced against the best colt's in the world, and, I might add, held her own and almost always finished in the money, right here is one in Dar Re Mi. She raced and held her own against the likes of Sea The Stars, Youmzain, Conduit, Cavalryman, and Fame and Glory in the 09' Arc, finishing a very respectable 5th. Also, against Conduit and Spanish Moon in the 09' Breeders Cup Turf. She also ran a close 2nd to Zarkava, the undefeated 08 Arc winning filly in the 08 Prix Vermille. And also, actually beat the at that time undefeated French filly and French Oaks winner Stacellita in the 09' Prix Vermille, but was DQ'd to 5th in the worst decision ever. Dar Re Mi's D.Q. in the 09' Prix Vermille was so unpopular, that the Paris crowd at Longchampe bood Stacilleta's connections when they took the stand to receive the winners trophy. Dar Re Mi is a filly that has raced against both the best male's and females in racing. She is a filly with real credentials.
With only eight horses going postward in the Breeders' Cup Turf, the draw should have no effect whatsoever in the 1 1/2-mile contest, which starts halfway down Santa Anita's hillside course. Installed as the 7-5 morning-line favorite, defending titleholder Conduit will start from post 2 with regular...Read More
