Saturday's 3rd race from Gulfstream Park, a nine furlong entry level allowance event for three-year-olds, could produce a starter or two for the April 3 Florida Derby. • horses · This race should produce a Florida Derby starter or two. It should also give us early in the day clues to the Fountain of Youth. Cool Blue Red Hot was well beaten by Soldat in the slop, and Nacho Business beat Bowman's Causeway last time, so watch how those two fare. I am also intrigued by Washington's Rules. He got an 88 Beyer for his GP win, but then did nothing at Tampa. · 447 days ago ·

  • ajump08 · No problem, Awesome Patriot is cut out to be a good one. Beat Riveting Reason in an Allowance, RR most recently was nosed out of winning the Robet B. Lewis. This may be Baffert's biggest Derby hope actually, unless Jaycito overcomes the adversity that's surrounded him thus far in his career: bolting in BC Juvenile, trainer change, missed works, missed races, and eventually not running untill at least March. · 449 days ago ·

  • ajump08 · Soldat pulls away from Cool Blue Red Hot late for an impressive and gutsy win over a sloppy track he oviously loved in a time of 1:49.22, over two and a half seconds faster than a maiden race race two races prior. Not convinced he's a contender off of slop, but if Churchill comes up rainy he could be a factor now proven he definitely gets at least 9 furlongs, and due to his runner-up in the BC Juvenile Turf, the Graded Stakes earnings is a non-factor. Dissapointing we couldn't see Dialed In, maybe we'll see him comeback in the Holy Bull. · 481 days ago ·
