He looked really good winning the Challenger Stakes at Tampa, I mean really good. He's progressing with age, and at 4 he could be a prime contender for the Stephen Foster, I'd say a likely goal considering he's experienced over the Churchill oval including a win in the G3 Northern Dancer last June. Belmont Stakes winner Drosselmeyer finished 4th in the same race, and I actually believe the 2nd place finisher Jardim is talented with his top achievement being a romp in the Michael G. Schaefer Mile Stakes at Hoosier on Indiana Derby Day. In that race Jardim beat recent G3 Mineshaft winner Demarcation by 7 lengths, and Z Humor, who just won the Maxxim Gold Cup at Sam Houston, followed another 1 1/4 lengths behind Demarcation.
Colizeo was looking like a potential Derby product until he got ran into the ground by First Dude and Fly Down.
  • Barbados Buck · Zito was very high on Fly Down going into the race. I wonder where he'll run him next? · 2589 days ago
  • cigar · Colizeo's maiden win was against a super soft group of horses. It shows in that Pletcher decided to put him in an allowance race instead of one of the many stakes available for 3-year-olds. · 2588 days ago
Colizeo was impressive running away with the 7th at GP today. Broke his maiden going 1 1/8 miles. Should be heard from on the Derby trail.
