What the Horse Racing Nation is saying about Codoy...

Fly Down’s last-to-first victory in the Grade 2, $200,000 Dwyer on a blustery Saturday afternoon at Belmont Park may have earned the colt a shot at the Belmont Stakes.   The 3-year-old son of Mineshaft barreled into the lead rounding the far turn and pulled clear to a six-length win over 3-5 f...Read More

When the horses enter the gate for the 142nd running of the Grade 1, $1 million Belmont Stakes at Belmont Park on June 5, the WinStar Farm connections of Super Saver are hoping its Kentucky Derby winner will be vying to become racing’s 12th Triple Crown winner.   In the meantime, one of WinSta...Read More
On Saturday, May 8, 3-year-olds take center stage at Belmont Park with the 93rd running of the Grade 2, $200,000 Dwyer.   According to Andrew Byrnes, stakes coordinator for The New York Racing Association, Inc. Stately Victor, a 40-1 outsider, ran down a game Paddy O'Prado to capture the Grade 1 Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland Race Course on Saturday. The winner, a three-year-old colt by Ghostzapper, out of Dynaformer mare Collect The Cash, stopped the clock in 1:48.69 and paid $82.20 under Alan Garcia. He ...Read More

  • rossington · A 40-1 shot win's the Bluegrass Stakes, and a 17-1 shot win's the Arkansas Derby? How the hell is anyone supposed to be able to handicap the upcoming Kentucky Derby? LOL. I guess it would be safe just to play Eskendereya and Sidney's Candy. Beyond that, who know's who might jump up and win the roses this year? · 668 days ago ·

Trainer Tom Albertrani has been down this road before. In 2006, Albertrani won the Tampa Bay Derby (gr. III) with Deputy Glitters. He repeated the feat this spring with Padua Stables’ Odysseus, who will break from post 1 under Rajiv Maragh in the $750,000 Toyota Blue Grass Stakes (gr. I) April 10. O...Read More

  • humphrey · Anytime a horse's final fraction velocity is faster, significantly, than their other two fractions, it dictates a big later mover....That is what this one does, like it or not. · 671 days ago ·

  • gardenesque1 · I agree with Cigar that Interactif is versatile. Most of his races have been slow early/fast late, and that is not unusual in turf routes and synthetic races. I like the fact that his San Felipe pace figs when up but his final figure did not take a dip, which is a sign of an improving horse. Notice that he ran on the dirt twice, and in those two starts his pace figs exceeded his late/final speed ratings, which is the norm for conventional dirt sprints. All that being said, I would like to see Interactif take back and make a run because that style worked so well for him in a pair of Graded turf route wins last year. · 671 days ago ·

  • Rossington · As well as he's raced over every conventional dirt track that he's ever ran, I still find it hard to believe that Rick Dutrow isn't going to take a shot at the 2010 Kentucky Derby with D' Funnybone. I really think it's a distance question with Dutrow. But that wouldn't deter me from taking a shot with this colt, because none of the incoming contenders will be proven yet at 1-1/4. • Rossington · Boy, that Florida Stallion Series sure must not have paid very well for Jackson Bend to be so far down the list in Graded earnings. I also thought D' Funnybone with win's in the Saratoga Special, the Futurity Stakes, the Hutcheson Stakes, and the Swale Stakes, plus a place effort in the Frank Gomez Stakes would have acquired more money in Graded earnings than his total suggest. · 675 days ago ·

Unlike most of the 3-year-olds that will race next Saturday at Keeneland in the $750,000 Blue Grass Stakes, Codoy is very unlikely to run back in the Kentucky Derby, regardless of result. • Rossington · I think Lookin at Lucky and D'Funnybone will be the two to beat in the B.C. Juvenile. In the B.C. Juvenile Turf, Interactif, imo, is the best 2yr.old in training in the U.S. right now, dirt or turf. I wouldn't be surprised to see his connection's after the Breeders Cup races try him on dirt sometime early in 2010. If he takes to the dirt he could be a real player in next year's Triple Crown Series. His toughest competition in the Juvenile Turf, on paper anyway, looks to be the European horse Viscount Nelson as they're both already proven winner's with Interactif being 4-3-0-0 and Viscount Nelson being 4-2-1-1. This race should prove to be an interesting match up between these two juvenile stars. But I'd have to give a slight edge to Interactif. · 833 days ago ·
