Remember Clubhouse Ride? (2nd in the Sham when last seen) Rick Seidner tells me he is back and will run in the next few weeks.
Injured... off the trail.
My last 2011 Kentucky Derby contenders list was posted on Feb 5 so I have a bit of catching up to do. I’ll begin with the Sam Davis and end with a recap of the Southwest Stakes. I have added a couple of newcomers to the list after Tapizar’s injury and Comma To The Top’s disappointing effort at Golde...Read More
Mucho Macho Man banked $180,000 for his 1 ½-length win in Saturday’s Grade II, $300,000 Risen Star Stakes at Fair Grounds and moved into a tie for seventh position on the Graded Stakes Earnings list that will likely determine the field for Kentucky Derby 137 on Saturday, May 7 at Churchill Downs. &...Read More

It is now 2011 and that means we have officially embarked on the Kentucky Derby trail. Here in the East it’s been difficult to see even the slightest hint of rose blossoms buried beneath 20-30 inches of snow drifts. But, heck, they’ve already run the first Derby prep (the Count Fleet Stakes at Aqued...Read More

Tapizar seemed to find himself while breaking his maiden during the fourth and final start of his juvenile campaign last November at Churchill Downs. Sent off as the even-money favorite Jan. 15, the son of Tapit proved he is a serious 3-year-old when he won his stakes debut in the $100,000...Read More

  • humphrey · I strongly get the impression that this one could NOT win on the deeper grass surfaces which make up the majority of turf courses throughout the country. When you are running on a putting green with no moisture of springiness to it, you are essentially (as the Brits call it) running on the top of the ground....Take this one to Woodbine Arlington or Saratoga and he would likely be a regular also ran. · 498 days ago ·

Over the past decade Steve Asmussen has been a dominating force in North America, especially at Churchill Downs where he has been the perennial leading trainer at the home of the Kentucky Derby (gr. I).But other than the late-blooming Curlin, who jumped up to finish third in the 2007 Derby, Asmussen...Read More
I think this horse can be right there all the way on the Derby Trial. These Candy Ride horses are racing really good, and this horse is out of a well bred mare. He looks like a nice three year old that looks pretty consistent.
1. Uncle Mo (Indian Charlie) Todd Pletcher - The unquestioned king of the juveniles has people triple crown dreaming. 2. To Honor and Serve (Bernardini) Bill Mott- The best at Aqueduct. How will that translate to Louisville? 3. Boys at Tosconova (Officer) Rick Dutrow - Classy and talented, but can t...Read More
The performance of the week goes to Comma to the Top. The CashCall Futurity is the last chance of the calendar year to see top Kentucky Derby prospects duke it out. • humphrey · Point being: two year olds RARELY (Street Sense was an exception) signal their prowess to get 10 frulongs this early in their career when they are still learning to apportion their speed. The competitive ones in these ridiculous speed merchant races, have, for the most part, running styles typical of babies: suck up a bunch of air and run till you can`t stand up any longer. · 525 days ago ·

Clubhouse Ride's pedigree that indicates that he could be a late bloomer. His sire Candy Ride gets winners up to 1 ¼ miles and Seeking The Gold’s daughters produced sprinters to long-winded routers. Clubhouse Ride’s dam placed twice in ten starts, and is a half sister to multiple Grade 1 winner River Keen.
