What the Horse Racing Nation is saying about Cityscape...

Xtension, fifth in the 2012 Dubai Duty Free (G1), went back to Hong Kong and was victorious in the 2012 BMW Champions Mile (G1) at Sha Tin. Cityscape, winner of the Duty Free, had a tough trip from the break and was only tenth. Read More
Cityscape, the winner of the 2012 Dubai Duty Free (G1) got his first bit of trackwork in for Sunday’s BMW Champions Mile (G1) at Sha Tin. From today’s trackwork notes from the HKJC: “He can be a little bit like that, but it was just a case of the horse was going right and he [...] Read More

Hello to all from Dubai. Normally, we are quick to put together post-race thoughts on the full gamut of activity from the 2012 Dubai World Cup, but given the emotionally charged nature of the day, both powerful and challenging, we thought it best to let our thoughts settle for some time. We do not v...Read More
JAMES DOYLE punched the air in celebration as he crossed the line well clear of his rivals on Cityscape to post a first Group 1 of his career. The Roger Charlton-trained six-year-old came home in splendid isolation to gain a well-deserved first win at the highest level after a series of solid effort...Read More
  • ILuvTurfRacing · All I can say about Cityscape in this race is WOW!! He completely dominated a Dubai Duty Free field that I felt like was the deepest field on the entire world cup night card from top to bottom. Cityscape gave a very strong hint last season that he had developed into a legitimate G1 level horse when first finished right up Canford Cliffs and Goldikova's back side in the G1 Queen Anne Stakes at Ascot. He then went on and won a couple of G3's, one in Ireland and one in France. He was then real unlucky to have gotten clipped right on the wire by Dick Turpin in the G1 Premio Vittorio Di Cappua in Italy, and after that, he ran a really strong 2nd behind Able One in the G1 Hong Kong Mile. But today, Cityscape announced he's for sure a G1 level horse by just mauling a field that not included many of Europe's best at this distance, but Hong Kong's best as well. · 56 days ago ·

Super, super impressive in the Dubai Duty Free! That was awesome.
Cityscape was confirmed today by trainer Roger Charlton as being off to Dubai to run in the G1 Dubai Duty Free on world cup night!! I don't think the extra furlong will be a problem at all for Cityscape. But I do wish he had at least 1 run under his belt before heading to Meydan. Very difficult to go into these races against the worlds best horses and win them off of a lay-off. My other concern for Cityscape in the Duty Free is the turf course at Meydan is always firm and fast, and he's always been at his best with some cut in the ground. Still, I expect to see Cityscape run well in the Duty Free.
I almost felt sorry for Cityscape. As three horses joined the battle outside the furlong marker, it was him that I knew did not belong. He's a nice horse, the five-year-old stakes winning son of Selkirk, but I mean come on. Talk about finding your way into a gunfight armed only with a switchblade. F...Read More

  • medlocke · I'm not sure I'd go so far as to say that we witnessed a changing of the guard at Royal-Ascot at the end of this year's Queen Anne Stakes? But I would go so far as to say that Goldikova has finally met in Canford Cliffs a turf miler who's turn of foot is every bit equal, if not quicker than Goldikova's. It's no accident that Canford Cliffs has now won 5 straight major G1's over a mile on the turf in Europe. All last season, Canford Cliffs trainer, Richard Hannon, kept running Paco Boy and Dick Turpin at Goldikova, and she always proved to be a half length to a length better than both every time. That's just no longer the case with her facing Canford Cliffs, IMO. Canford Cliffs is a very legitimate threat to dethroning Goldikova in her bid to win a 4th B.C. Mile. TJMO. · 343 days ago ·

  • zXswordxz · This topic is so misleading, I thought they were talking about best horse that can run two mile. Should it be " Two of the best Miler in the World"? · 343 days ago ·

  • Rossington · I don't believe very many people saw past the "big 2", Canford Cliffs and Goldikova, finishing 1-2 in this race, one way or another? But I would imagine that trainer Roger Charlton and Prince Khalid Abdullah would have to be ecstatic about the way that Cityscape ran in this race. He really laid down a late challenge, and briefly looked like he might really hit the wire with Canford Cliffs and Goldikova. But it was still a career best for Cityscape. Beaten 1-3/4 lengths by Canford Cliffs, and 1 length by Goldikova. Cityscape ended the 2010 season with win's in the listed Superior Mile at Haydock, and the G3 Joel Stakes at Newmarket. Then made his seasonal debut at Sandown, where he was beaten by 2-1/4 lengths by Dick Turpin in the G2 Bet365 Mile. Most people had Cityscape figured to finish behind Cape Blanco, Rio De La Plata, and some figured even behind Ransom Note also. I think this race will give Cityscape a huge dose of confidence, and I don't doubt Charlton looking for a strong G2 or another G1 over a mile for Cityscape to contest in the very near future!!
