What the Nation is saying about Christine Daae...

Longshot Tamarind Hall pulled off a dramatic upset Sunday afternoon at Belmont Park, splitting horses on the turn and galloping on to a 5 ¼-length victory in the Grade 3, $150,000 Bed o' Roses Handicap. After breaking on top in the field of seven fillies and mares, Tamarind Hall was taken back short...Read More

Champagne d’Oro picked up her second Grade 1 victory in emphatic style, drawing off to win the 85th running of the $250,000 Test at Saratoga Race Course on Saturday.   The 5-1 co-third choice in the Test, Champagne d’Oro pressed the favorite and pacesetter Pica Slew in second through fractions ...Read More

I don’t know about you guys, but when it comes to handicapping a race, the name of a horse is a huge factor for me. Even though I can read a program and tell you what each statistic means, and whose past performances are the best, the name still stands out above everything else on the page.Read More

  • humphrey · There is an unwritten rule in horse racing: NEVER name a horse something that would not look good hanging over your mantle as odd named horses hardly EVER become champions. Equipoise, Esterminator, Domino, Imp, Stage Door Johnny, Run the Gauntlet....great names. · 662 days ago ·

I had a good feeling it was going to be bombs away in the Florida Derby. I told those who purchased my selections that. My top pick, Pleasant Prince, narrowly missed at odds of 29-1. He nearly gave me a heart attack, because I thought I was in the clear during the late stages of the race...Read More
BONNIE MISS Stakes Quotes   Todd Pletcher (trainer, Devil May Care, 1st) – “We’ve always thought a lot of this filly, but I’m not surprised that some could be a little skeptical after her last two races. In the case of the Breeders’ Cup it was simply a matter of she hated the synthetic (track)....Read More
It has been well documented how loaded trainer Todd Pletcher is for this year's Kentucky Derby. Well, it appears he will be well-represented in the Kentucky Oaks as well. Devil May Care, a Grade 1 winner in her second career start, rebounded from a disappointing 3-year-old debut with a 2 3/4-length ...Read More
The Florida Derby will almost certainly point out contenders for the Kentucky Derby and the Bonnie Miss for 3-year-old fillies at 1 1/8 miles should yield a leading prospect or two for the Kentucky Oaks (G1) the day before at Churchill Downs. The probable favorites in the field of six 3-year-old fi...Read More
  • somadevi · I think that one reason why I and others are so fascinated by Christine Daae is her uncanny resemblance to her maternal and paternal great, great, greatgrandfather Secretariat. She is a magnificent filly possessing the radiant chestnut coat, three white socks (on the front left one-unlike BR), and conformation of Big Red. I had chills down my spine when I saw the beautiful appearance and poise of Christine at Gulfstream when she came into the paddock at Gulfstream Park on Jan, 15th, 2010. Oh my what a sight to behold. And then she won her maiden easily with little effort. I have only seen Big Red on tv and film and photos. But her uncanny resemblance to Secretariat was something else. God keep her safe and strong and we shall see what the future holds. I'm sure Big Red is laughing up in horse heaven. · 690 days ago ·

A very nice filly, but the second coming of Ruffian, Rachel or Zenyatta she is not.
Zayat Stable’s 3-year-old Eskendereya worked an easy five furlongs in 1:02 2/5 Sunday morning at Palm Meadows as he is kept on edge for next Saturday’s $750,000 Florida Derby (G1) at Gulfstream Park, leading a team of a dozen stakes runners on the work tab from trainer Todd Pletcher’s arsenal of ta...Read More

Highly regarded three-year-old filly Christine Daae was an easy winner on Sunday at Gulfstream Park, opening a clear advantage under a hand ride from Corey Nakatani and coasting to a 2 3/4-length victory as the 2-to-5 favorite.Read More
With nearly two months of the Derby prep trail completed, quite honestly I have not been blown away with the 3-year-old crop as a whole. Maybe that's why the horse I have ranked No. 1 on my list doesn't even have any graded earnings yet. I'm hoping my outlook changes in March.Read More
This filly is going places. She returns to the races this weekend in the Davona Dale. She's been training sensationally and is very sharp.
How about a little love for the ladies? Today ZATT forsakes the boys and takes a look at the fairer sex, with my first Kentucky Oaks list. Although, with the recent success shown by the girls in the Triple Crown races, some of these may be looking at the Derby as well. Enjoy these talented your ladi...Read More

A filly like Rachel Alexandra comes around once in a blue moon. It is not reasonable to think that another 3-year-old filly will surface any time soon and do the things she did. But we can still hope, can't we?Read More
