Just re watched the Derby and feel really bad for Chiti. Poor colt ran his heart out and tried to stay with Chrome but just had nothing to give compared to Chrome. And then got the s*** beat out of him in the stretch when he was clearly losing ground. Poor colt

  • RichChatter · There are few things I dislike more in this sport than a jockey assaulting an obviously tired and nonthreatening horse with the whip. · 74 days ago

This was a horrible race. I cashed and it was a joke

  • https://www.facebook.com/paul.mcaleavey.1 · Chitu did not run credible, he merely did not stop as bad as uncle sigh did and there was no other speed. I did say several times he would be on the lead. Would be tenth, when there were twenty weeks before the draw and he was ninth was two scratches that would have passed him and he got beat nicely and was not threatening in a very slow run race. The winner deserves all of the credits as the closers that fired were much closer and did not have to run him down and he did it easy. He was impressive and I think he wouldve went several lengths faster if they went the 45 high they should have based on the way the track was playing. I am no chrome fan but he deserves the credit he earned today.I did well playing underneath with curve and pressing him and was not gonna let the fave keep me from cashing even though it would not pay much as someone blogged a day ago that the pic 6 looked like all faves. It was not all faves but close enough. I never thought to play it. But then again, when is gulf over as they have had not had a single winner of their six this year. That is beyond scary, perhaps they should raise the bet to a .50 minimum? · 81 days ago
  • https://www.facebook.com/paul.mcaleavey.1 · I also said chitu would rabbit and run last. But there was no need and my second comment would be that he would be out of the super and probably tenth or worse. I got people to bet me at 30-1 that he would be out of the super. Not a lot but I did not bet much either. · 81 days ago
Lucky 13? Chitu will break from post #13 in the KY Derby on Saturday. There are 4 other derby winners that broke from post #13, will Chitu be the fifth lucky one? My heart tells me that Chitu will win on Saturday, but my head is knocking that California Chrome will be the first one that crosses the finish line. I will be very happy if either one wins, but will be super happy if these 2 horses came in 1st & 2nd. Good luck to all!

  • Mary Z. · Triple D, post positions stats from post Derby 100(1974) outrageously huge field can't really be compared to fields of let's say ten or less. I mean just about everyone says how unfair the one hole is in 20 horse fields, besides the traffic for the other positions. · 84 days ago
Vamos Martin!! this California colt will finish on the broad- García will make a 2nd turn move will allow for a on the board finish.
Chitu got post #13. Not bad :) Safe trip buddy.
Per DRF Welsch- Chitu goes 6F from gate with Party Time in 1:13.11 splits :24.30 :36.11 :48.12 with Martin Garcia up

  • https://www.facebook.com/paul.mcaleavey.1 · buds no disrespect but he just has a nice record and against not such good competition. If you like him you have to love Candy Boy and he should get a pace set up and I have figured he is not that good. Chitu is a speed sprint looking horse, let alone what the ped says. He has run past his pedigree against lesser and is stepping way up and will be a bit overbet. If someone other Baffert or pletcher had him he would be at least 35-1. · 87 days ago
  • doggie · Buds no direspect BUT how in the hell if he ran head to head with "hawk" then Candy came just past him and couldn't didn't put him away is he any less of an option than Candy Boy. It's not as if Candy Boy ran by him --bye bye. Sprint looking horse? OMG! Would you mind just telling us ALL who the winner is? · 86 days ago
Let's see---"Derby fever" has Chitu "IN" ummm he lost one race to Candy Boy runa 102 in the Sunland Derby and ALL of these horses are sooooooooooo special. Get real ! He belongs as much if NOT more than at least 19 others.

  • CauseForConcern · The pattern is, that besides Dance With Fate(Blue Grass) and Hoppertunity(Rebel), Midnight Hawk lost the Illinois Derby as the favorite, Bayern loses the Derby Trial, Kristo runs seventh in the Wood Memorial, Tamarando runs eighth in the Spiral, Commisioner(who ran 3rd to Chitu) is up the track in the Arkansas Derby. Horses shipping east don't seem to resemble the same horse that they displayed in the west. And the beat goes on. 163 hours until post time. · 88 days ago
  • https://www.facebook.com/paul.mcaleavey.1 · chitu I have said it before and will again, chitu does not belong in the race. he beat hawk and anyone can outgame hawk. he could not out work a horse that lost to a horse that never routed. Baffert does not want the horse in the race and he will be on the lead and fold up like an accordion and run a held last. He will not have issues handling the track and run a hard fought 13th, he will be last barring a breakdown or a jockey falling off. Some people do get off just by being in the derby let alone having their horses name called first for over a minute. But that is about all they will get. He will not out game red, unless something goes horribly wrong and on his best day he will not outgame a stalker let alone the deep closers that may very well have a field day this year. I would like to see a fair race and a good speed horse hold on for a good piece and a couple of stalkers fire and a closer. A little of everything, like a buffet. This derby has that advanced look to it. Mind you defections can still happen, there is the post draw, weather and how the track plays that day. If every speed holds back and chitu runs 47 and change to the half he may have the lead to the 5/16ths pole. That would be a huge if but sometimes there is so much speed that trainers try to rate their speed horses or horses get crowded and pinched back. Chitu will rush to the lead and may not be fast enough to get it on merit but on a suicide mission and wrapping up, I would bet he would get the lead early. But that ends my betting on him besides him schlepping in last after being eased up on and saved for later in the year. · 88 days ago

Is he skipping the Derby now?
Did chitu sch out of the ky derby trail and where do i get the info on the derby points and the graded earings too get in the derby?
Chitu had been confirmed to run in the KY Derby. Bob Baffert did it again. He is really the "master of publicity". Now, everybody are tweeting about Chitu. He planned it all along that Chitu might not run in the derby, but he knows Chitu's connections won't let it happen. Last year, they were disappointed that Super Ninety Nine did not make it to the derby gate, but this time Chitu deserves to run in the derby. Go get them Chitu!!!!

  • Mary Z. · He is a really nice colot, Chitufan. Lewis was a nice race for his first stakes try. How did he look at Churchill Downs? Anyone see him there? · 91 days ago
  • Mary Z. · *colt, sorry · 91 days ago
So he is going to the derby trial, what does that do? Sorry, im not 100% familiar with the horseracing world.
  • Sully · Baffert is being strategic. He knows his 2 best chances at the Derby are Hopp & Bayern. By running Chitu in the Derby trial, Bayern only needs a couple more defections. · 93 days ago
  • Sully · And if Chitu romps, and Bayern can't get in off the defections, he knows Chitu likes the track. · 93 days ago
is he even going to the derby? last I heard he was on edge 50/50 and if he was going it was for the owners sake not cause bob had confidence he can win

  • drvivianbell · I sorta like Chitu's chances. Sure, he's got sprinter's speed, but his bottom pedigree has some distance, and it's worth noting that Beholder is also by Henny Hughes. I have to like him more than Midnight Hawk ... until he shows us otherwise. · 93 days ago
  • drvivianbell · Yeah, and I forgot that he's racing this weekend, right? Ignore my chump assessment. · 93 days ago
Headed to the Derby Trial, per @DRFPrivman.

  • DerekFisher · I heard Baffert texted DRF stating Chitu is still on at this point and that Midnight Hawk is officially off the Derby Trail? · 93 days ago
on April 21, Chitu worked 4F at Churchill Downs on Fast Dirt in :47.60 b finishing 2/46.
chitu has out run his pedigree by leaps and bounds he should have a big time shot in the derby.
if you look at this objectively you could say that both bayern and chitu might have distance limitations. but only one will be trying to do what no horse has done in over a hundred years and it's not chitu.
why isnt chitu getting any love for winning the ky derby he has race four very good races and has showen a horses toughness at the moment of truth.
  • striped mentality · I like him a lot, always have. I think he has a good shot at winning/ending up in they money come Derby. He doesn't get much credit, but that'll just make it that much more fun when he proves the nay-sayers wrong. · 94 days ago
