What the Horse Racing Nation is saying about Chinchon...

Watch the races below and sound off about the biggest racing day of the year in Singapore. Cheers to the winners Ato and Chinchon. After a week in Singapore, going to trackwork and getting each day going at 3:45 A.M., we’re taking a bit of a holiday. Hopefully, you had a little something on Ato [......Read More
The courses at Kranji were a bit busier on Wednesday morning when all ten international shippers made an appearance during the designated training hour beginning at 5:00 A.M. Rain began falling in Singapore around 3:30 A.M. and lightning in the distance provided for some early-morning fireworks. The...Read More

In the next race, the Suburban Handicap, I expect recent lifetime best performances by Rodman and Hymn Book to cause lower than deserved odds for today. Meanwhile the midwest shipper, Flat Out is coming off two solid races at Lone Star and Churchill Downs in his latest. Despite not getting the win i...Read More

  • medlocke · At her best, the French mare, Stacelita, will be the one to beat in this year's United Nations. A 4-time G1 winner in France, she ran 3rd in her seasonal debut behind Cirrus Des Aigles in the G3 Prix La Coupe. Stacelita won the G3 Prix La Coupe in 2010, and used the race to vault herself to a 2nd place finish, beaten by a nose, by Midday in the G1 Nassau Stakes at Goodwood, and a G1 win at Deauville in the Prix Jean-Romanet. Stacelita also has G1 win's in Prix Saint-Alary, the Prix De Diane(French Oaks), and the Prix Vermeille. She won her first 6 career starts before finally losing her first race in the 2009 Prix De l' Arc De Triomphe to Sea The Stars. · 329 days ago ·

This weekend at Woodbine was really the last serious chance to punch a ticket to Louisville for three Breeders’ Cup grass races. As seems to be the custom for this weekend of racing, it was dominated by the Europeans who brought 15 of the 28 horse entered in the three “Win and You’re in” events: The...Read More

It was an ominous beginning for Irish-bred Joshua Tree, who delayed the start of the $2 million Pattison Canadian International (Can-IT) because he lost a shoe in the paddock. But after he got his equipment issues figured out the 3-year-old colt was just fine, as he took the lead in mid-stretch and ...Read More

Each year, it seems the Breeders’ Cup Turf (gr. IT) paints the same bleak picture for the American grass horses. Whether it’s Conduit, who captured the last two BC Turfs, or the 10-1 Red Rocks in 2006, or the 1,2,3,4 Euro blitz in 2005, the Americans have had a tough time defending their home turf. Read More

  • medlocke · Difficult, but not impossible. Goldikova is still on top of her game. But she has lost a step from her 2008 and 2009 Breeders Cup Mile-Turf victories. I think the 2010 B.C. Mile-Turf will prove to be Goldikova at her most vulnerable in any of her three attempts. If Sidney's Candy run's the 8 furlongs of the B.C. Mile anything at all like he ran the 8-1/2 furlongs of the La Jolla Handicap, setting a new Del Mar turf course record for 8-1/2 furlongs in his only lifetime start on turf, I think he has a big chance. He ran those 8-1/2 furlongs like he was in a 6 furlong sprint race. Also, if the Court Vision that showed up and won the 2010 Woodbine Mile run's that well in the B.C.Mile-Turf? He's got a very realistic chance at beating the Euro's as well. I'd say the Euro's have an advantage. But America does have a couple of turf mile contenders in Sidney's Candy and Court Vision that are more than capable of springing the upset. JMO. · 614 days ago ·

Sometimes beliefs are challenged, other times they are reinforced. One of the tenants of our faith as Thoroughbred racehorse mating planners is that inbreeding and linebreeding to genetic relatives can have a powerful effect in upgrading a pedigree.Read More

  • medlocke · I had seen the race replays of Chinchon's last 2 races in France. Where he won the Prix Exbury and ran 4th in the Grand Prix De Chantilly. In both races, he closed very strongly from the rear of the field. Knowing that the racetracks in France are usually slower, soft turf. I remembered thinking if this colt ever got a chance to race outside of France on firmer, faster turf that he'd be a handful. When I saw him on the United Nations card today, I played him immediately. Which made my day, because I'd been on a bit of a losing streak of late. LOL. I knew Momouth's turf is notoriously fast anyway. I played Chinchon a straight $20 to win, and it returned $96. Not a wheelbarrow load by any means. But just a good feeling to have handicapped one right again, and won some money instead of donating. At-a-boy Go Go Gomez!! · 692 days ago ·
