Older Comments about Chicquita...

In the 1970's America had the Six Million Dollar Man staring Lee Majors. In 2014 Ireland has the Six Million Euros Filly staring Chicquita!! LOL.
The 2013 G1 Irish Oaks winner who was also 2nd behind Arc winner Treve in the G1 Prix De Diane(French Oaks) has joined the yard of trainer Aidan O'Brien in Ireland and will race for Coolmore/Ballydoyle in 2014 along with Verrazano & Due Diligence from America. Verrazano is said to possibly have some lofty early season targets, among them being the G1 Tattersalls Gold Cup in Ireland in May and the G1 Prince of Wales's Stakes during the royal meeting at Ascot in June, and I'm quite certain Chicquita will also have some loft targets throughout the 2014 season given the enermous sum paid for her by Coolmore at the Goffs Sale in Ireland of 6,000,000 Euros or just over $8,000,000 US.
Clearly Chicquita is a quality filly, but I'm not sure only a win in the G1 Irish Oaks and a 2nd in the G1 Prix De Diane(French Oaks) to date waranted becoming the most expensive horse ever sold at auction in Ireland for a lofty 6,000,000 Euros last month at the Goffs Sale. Chichquita was bought by bloodstock agents Peter & Ross Doyle, said to be acting on behalf of Sheikh Joaan Al Thani who already in 2013 has spent a fortune privately purchasing such notable horses as the Arc winner Treve, Sussex Stakes winner Toronado, French 2000 Guineas winner Style Vendome, and Queen Elizabeth II Stakes winner Olympic Glory. Peter Boyle was quoted after the sale as saying it's possible that Chicquita could race on, but still that's the kind of price tag you'd expect to see on a filly like Zarkava, Danedream, or even Treve herself once she's eventually retired, IMO.
2013 Irish Oaks winner Chicquita sells for 6,000,000 euros (8,112,600 US dollars) at Goffs November Breedings Stock Sale in Ireland as part of her owner Paul Makin's dispersal

  • Euro Trash · Thank you EP. I may be partial but I think Royer-Dupre would be a better fit. But, Hopefully she will thrive for Aiden. · 736 days ago
