  • nayrod64 · what a race and performance. Nothing wrong with this horse and soundness. Too bad he's never coming back to USA. · 383 days ago ·
  • icyhotboo · I'm curious as to why they would keep him on after the "alleged bad ride." Maybe because it wasn't bad at all? · 383 days ago ·
The last time I saw Cavalryman run that well he was bearing down on Sea The Stars & Youmzain in the 2009 Prix De l' Arc De Triomphe at Longchamp. As a 3yo 12f was quite obviously his optimum trip. But since he's became an older horse and kept in training by Godolphin, 2 miles is where he's really been thriving. He won Stowe LLP Grand Cup at York earlier in the season over 14f and later the Coral Marathon on Coral Eclipse day at Sandown over 16-1/2f. It's unfortunate he wasn't in that same kind of form when he went to Flemington and ran in the G1 Melbourne Cup back in November.
Stormed home to win in the Dubai Gold Cup.
Hard to believe that after mauling Cirrus Des Aigles by some 6+ lengths in the Prix Matchem, winning the G1 Grand Prix De Paris, the G2 Prix Niel, and finishing 3rd in the G1 Arc De Triomphe won by Sea The Stars in 2009, all when he was a 3yr.old in the barn of the great French trainer, Andre Fabre. That 16 races later for Saeed Bin Suroor and Godolphin, Cavalryman finally got his first win for Godolphin today at York in the listed LLP Grand Cup. When Andre Fabre had Cavalryman in 2008 and 2009, he looked poised to become one of the next bright middle distance turf stars in Europe. But once he made the trek from Fabre's yard in France to the yard of Saeed Bin Suroor, something went terribly wrong somewhere? What have you learned, Sheikh Mohammed?
GBI Racing’s stand-out race of the week, and one of the highlights of the year, the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes on Saturday, July 24 at Ascot Racecourse, has attracted a high-class field of eight at the six-day declaration stage – including the mightily impressive Investec (English) D...Read More
WILLIAM BUICK made a dream start to his partnership with John Gosden as he gave Dar Re Mi a well-judged ride to land the Group 1 Dubai Sheema Classic. Buick had the mare settled in fifth position from the off in the 1m4f contest as Presious Passion made sure they went a good gallop... Read More
  • bband · Dar Re Mi ran huge today. Ironically, about 5 minutes before the race, on the simulcast signal, trainer John Gosden when asked about her chances, says he looks for her to run well, but "Let's be honest, its late March and she's a mare, I don't expect her to be at her best until later in the year." Good lesson why you should never listen to trainers and they don't even know when their horses are doing great. · 1484 days ago ·
TWICE OVER has drifted slightly to a best-priced 11-2 with Coral for the Dubai World Cup, having been drawn in stall 11 of 14 in the $10million contest. The Henry Cecil-trained five-year-old was the last horse to come out of the draw on Wednesday evening. Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager to Twice Ov...Read More
In his first race in the racing silks of Godolphin, Cavalryman, a colt never off of the board on turf, was well beaten in Dubai on the all-weather track in the Al Maktoum. The Al Maktoum was to be Cavalryman, the odds on favorite in the race, prep for the upcoming Dubai World Cup. He didn't at all look anything like the same colt the won the 09' Grand Prix De Paris, the 09' Prix Niel, or that ran a very game 3rd to Sea The Stars and Youmzain in the 09' Prix de l' Arc de Triomphe. Going into the Al Maktoum on March 4th, and given his turf successes. would've thought Cavalryman to be one of the favorites for the Dubai World Cup. But he just didn't seem to take to the all-weather surface at Meydan at all. He was soundly beaten finishing 6th just ahead of champion Japanese mare Vodka.
Frogsracingcoopdyga.com, a French thoroughbred racing web-site, posted that Cavalryman will now race in the blue colors of Godolphin and is now being trained by Saaed Bin Surror. Surror said on this web-site that Cavalryman is in training right now and will "definitely" race in the 2010 Dubai World Cup. That throws a whole new hitch into the wagon. Cavalryman was ranked 7th in the final 2009 World Thoroughbred Rankings. He won the 2009 Grand Prix De Paris, the 2009 Prix Niel, and finished 3rd in a photo just being edged out by mere inches by Youmzain for 2nd in the 09' Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe won by Sea The Stars. IMO, Cavalryman, just now starting his 4yr.old campaign, was one of the very best 3yr.old's in the world during the 2009 racing season. He will definitely be one of, if not the class of the Dubai World Cup field. IMO.
The boys in blue weren’t represented, officially, in the 2009 Prix d’la Arc de Triomphe (G1) last October, but soon after, transferred the third home that day, Cavalryman, to their Al Quoz base for the shift...Read More
Of all the European 3yr.old colt's in 2009, after Sea The Stars, I personally thought that Cavalryman showed the most potential to go on and really be something special in his 4yr.old campaign in 2010. He was one of three horses that came into the Prix de l' Arc de Triomphe undefeated. Sea The Stars, Cavalryman, and the French filly Stacelita all went into the Arc undefeated. Cavalryman ran a strong Arc, just barely nipped at the wire for 2nd by Youmzain. Going into the Arc, he had won the 09' Grand Prix de Paris beating Age of Aquarius, Mastery, Freemantle, and Black Bear Island. He then won the Prix Niel beating Behesthtam, also an Arc runner, and Claremont. This colt has a long, powerful stride and seem's to be able to run down his competition rather easily. I won't be at all surprised if he races in the 2010 Prix de l' Arc, if Cavalryman win's it this time. JMO.
  • arazi · Interesting. That was definitely a deep Arc field with Conduit (4th), Dar Re Mi (5th), Stacelita (7th) and Vision d'etat (10th) among the accomplished runners that didn't even hit the board. · 1563 days ago ·
SEA THE STARS earned his place among racing's immortals with a stunning victory in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp on Sunday. Already a dual Classic winner, the astonishing Sea The Stars joined the greats with a brilliant performance to win Europe's biggest Flat race by a couple of length...Read More
  • arazi · The way he burst to the lead in a couple hundred yards was very impressive, indeed... look out Classic competition! Youmzain, Dar Re Mi and Stacelita ran good races, but they were no match for this guy! · 1658 days ago ·
Cavalryman capped off a tremendous day for Andre Fabre and Sheikh Mohammed when he powered to a 1 1/2-length victory in the Juddmonte Grand Prix de Paris (Fr-I) July 14.Read More
