The Grade 1 Travers, to be run at Saratoga on Saturday, August 27, is shaping up as the race of the summer with Preakness hero Shackleford, Belmont Stakes winner Ruler On Ice, Haskell winner Coil, and Belmont runner-up and Jim Dandy hero Stay Thirsty. Trainer Bob Baffert has not fully committed to t...Read More

Like this colt's chances to win the Bay Shore Stakes at Aqueduct on Saturday. Buffum ran a really solid effort in the UAE 2000 Guineas over in Dubai back on February 10th. He finished 5th of 12, only beaten a 1-3/4 length's in a race where the Splash Point, Zanzamar, Krypton Factor, Bridgefield, and Buffum all hit the wire in a blanket finish. Zanzamar and Splash Point, in-particular, are more talented colt's than anything that Buffum will face in this race today, IMO.
Back in NY. He's in the Bay Shore, he should run well but I think his pedigree screams distance.Ii would have put him in the Lexington Stakes because he ran pretty well over on the Tapeta in Dubai so I think he'd handle Keeneland. Anyway it is a good spot for him to start back up this year.
Twelve evenly-matched colts and geldings are set to face the starter in the $250,000 UAE 2000 Guineas Sponsored by Dubal (UAE-III). The one-mile contest is one of two stakes that will be run on Feb. 10 over the Tapeta all-weather surface at Meydan Racecourse.Mike de Kock will send out Zanzamar for o...Read More
  • medlocke · Buffum ran a fantastic UAE 2000 Guineas. He charged to the lead under Frankie Dettori and looked for a minute like he might win the race. But Buffum faded in final 100yds., and was overtaken by a blanket of four horses that included the UAE 2000 Guineas Trial 1st and 2nd place horses, Zanzamar and Splash Point. But this time, Splash Point won the race. Also there was an outstanding European colt, Krypton Factor, and 2000 Guineas Trial 3rd, Bridgetown. But this was a very encouraging run from Buffum. Wouldn't be surprised to see him able to improve upon his UAE 2000 Guineas 5th in the upcoming UAE Derby. · 461 days ago ·

It is now 2011 and that means we have officially embarked on the Kentucky Derby trail. Here in the East it’s been difficult to see even the slightest hint of rose blossoms buried beneath 20-30 inches of snow drifts. But, heck, they’ve already run the first Derby prep (the Count Fleet Stakes at Aqued...Read More

Several Godolphin competitors worth mentioning from Thursday’s UAE-G3 2000 Guineas at Meydan, including the Bernardini colt Buffum—who finished 20 lengths back of To Honor and Serve in last November’s G2 Remsen—he didn’t fare much better, running fifth, but only about 3 lengths behind the winner Spl...Read More

  • humphrey · Very good shot to win it but Buffum has never been really tested so that one is an unknown. 3, Mountain Town can press along with Bandbox which leaves then Mucho Macho Man to try to run down the heavy choice later. · 546 days ago ·
