What the Horse Racing Nation is saying about Buckpasser...

Bp you were absolutely correct. I love the Sire Lines by Hewitt! I'm glad I purchased it. My next purchase will most likely be the Royal Blood Fifty years of Classic Thoroughbreds. Thank you! Keep the suggestions coming
  • Buckpasser · Glad you liked it. It's a great book on some top sires. Royal Blood is very nice book too. Enjoy. · 7 days ago ·

What a pedigree. Coming from the La Troienne line, his dam Busanda was from Man 'o War which traces to Fair Play, and finally Blue Larkspur. Tom Fool is the sire. What a pedigree! Another from E.R Bradley's breeding operation. Finally, in the conversation we had a while ago, Buckpasser and Tom Fool were a pretty good duo.

  • Buckpasser · As a small aside, when E.R. Bradley died, his racing stock was sold. Bimilech, I believe went to the Whitney's and stood at Greentree. La Troienne was purchased by the Phipps family and was at Claiborne. I would imagine her grave stone is there in their cemetery. · 24 days ago ·

Braulio Baeza rode Buckpasser in the 1966 Arlington Classic to set the mile world record at 1:32 3/5. Two years later on the same track he lowered the record to 1:32 1/5 with Dr. Fager. Was Baeza incredibly lucky, incredibly good, or both?

It is a breeder’s dream to have a father-son combination as talented as Tom Fool and Buckpasser. Both gathered Horse of the Year honors and many more. Is there another sire and offspring that come close to surpassing these two?

  • AnnaK · Maybe the grandsire/grandson thing, only a few more years, then you get MOW and Biscuit. Slew and AP Indy are definitely worth a mention. · 403 days ago ·

  • airedale2008 · These duos are all excellent choices. Based on this racing community’s ratings, the runaway winning combination appears to be Man o’ War & War Admiral. I was intrigued by Bold Ruler & Secretariat and was very disappointed that this sire is ranked at 160. The 1957 Champion 3 Year Old Male, 1957 Horse of the Year, 1958 Champion Sprint Horse and eight time Leading Sire in North America should have a spot somewhere on the first page. · 402 days ago ·

Buckpasser- with a Past Performance record of 31 25 4 1 and carerr earning of 1,462,014 back in 1967, was truly one of the all time "greats" The really amazing fact is that during his racing career, Buckpasser suffered with recurring quarter cracks. These injuries although keeping him out of Triple Crown races, didnt stop him from becoming the 1966 Horse of the Year. I have completed his Performance history. If anyone has any additional video please add them in.
Set one mile world record, lost it to Dr. Fager. Retired as one of racings top money eranings.

Buckpasser's style of racing was similar to Zenyatta. Missed Triple Crown with injury. Dominated as 2 and 3 year old; at 4 his health deteriorated and he locked horns with two standout three year olds, Damascus ansd Dr. Fager.

At three he was unbeatable. He had bad feet and the quarter crack that plagued him as a three yr old came back as a four yr old and caused his retirement. · 831 days ago ·
