Bright Thought, who set the pace in the Woodford Reserve at Churchill Downs before fading behind victorious two-time Horse of the Year Wise Dan last Saturday, came back in good order according to trainer Jorge Gutierrez and is ticketed for the Grade II, $200,000 Charles Whittingham Stakes at 1 ¼ miles on turf May 24.
Bright Thought, third in the Thunder Road last Sunday, is ticketed for the Grade I Woodford Reserve at Churchill Downs on May 3, trainer Jorge Gutierrez said.
Multiple graded turf stakes winner Bright Thought worked a mile on the main track under regular exercise rider Pedro Arambula in 1:39.40. “He went the last quarter in 24 and change,” said trainer Jorge Gutierrez.

San Luis Rey winner Bright Thought will pass the Woodford Reserve on May 4 and be pointed to the Arlington Million on Aug.17. “We’ll freshen him up for a month and find a race before the Arlington Million,” trainer Jorge Gutierrez said of the former claiming horse who set a world record of 2:22.72 in winning the San Luis Rey at 1 ½ miles on turf March 16.

The final time for the distance was 2:22.72, it's a track record . This 2;21 and change time that is being thrown out there is incorrect
