  • Floridaf · I don't know, Karen. I think HOTY is still up for grabs at this point with several candidates making a good case for why they should get the top honors. It just all depends on how the voters decide to choose. Remember Zenyatta? The year she won the Classic she didn't get HOTY, but the year she lost the Classic by a nose, she received top honors. These things don't always make sense. · 612 days ago ·

  • Floridaf · He never really had the chance to live up to the hype, Tim. I think he could have done it this year, but he never started again after his runner-up effort in the G2 Westchester. At least we can look forward to seeing his babies hit the track. · 658 days ago ·

2 Questions. 1) Was this horse HYPED? 2) Did he fulfill that Hype?
  • Mary Z. · Just a little hyped as a two year old. Hasn't fulfilled any alleged hype quite yet, although he did beat the good filly Groupie Doll, for a minor brag, he's coming back. Not there yet in terms of stakes wins. Was this yes-no? Yes(somewhat), No(not yet). · 825 days ago ·

  • Floridaf · As I said before, BAT was hyped because he was on the Derby trail and turned in some fantastic performances. As a two-year old, he lived up to his hype since he was never worse than 2nd while racing in a MSW, two Grade 1s, and a Grade 3. As an older horse, he has not yet "proved" himself at the stakes level, but I appreciate that Dutrow has been taking his time bringing this colt back. So, yes he was hyped, and yes, he fulfilled that hype as a two-year old, which, if I may, was when he was getting all the hype in the first place. · 821 days ago ·
