  • LAZMANNICK · And the list of great horses racing in the UK goes on and on. The race was barely over and the first thing out of the color commentator’s mouth was “And Camelot remains beaten. Maybe we are about to see the greatest horse we’ve seen in well over forty years.” Wow. Frankel. Your fame is fleeting. Move over there’s a new greatest ever horse in town. · 326 days ago ·

  • ILuvTurfRacing · @BrianZipse, Much agreed. Provided 14f doesn't prove a bridge too far for Camelot, which I seriously doubt being the son of Montjeu, he's clearly head and shoulders above any of the rest of the middle distance 3yr.old's I've seen in Europe this season. Assuming he does go on to the G1 English St. Leger in September, and comes out of that race healthy, he could be a tough row to hoe for the older horses in the Arc this year with the weight for age break he'd get for being a 3yr.old. I just can't imagine Coolmore not sending Camelot to Longchamp in October to run in the Arc De Triomphe? He'd likely stand a better chance of winning the Arc for Ballydoyle than their older horses would, i.e, St Nicholas Abbey, So You Think, etc.., IMO. · 326 days ago ·

FORMER champion jockey Kieren Fallon cemented his place back in the big time with a first Royal Ascot victory since 2010 on Most Improved, in a race marred by the death of The Nile. Trainer John Oxx told AtTheRaces.com over the weekend that Born To Sea will not run in any prep races, but instead will go straight to Newmarket for the G1 English 2000 Guineas as his 2012 seasonal debut on May 5, 2012. John Oxx also stated that Native Khan, who was 3rd in the English 2000 Guineas and 5th in the Epsom Derby in 2011 is being set to transfer to his yard in Ireland very soon, and that he will be taking over the training of Native Khan for the 2012 season. Native Khan has been in the yard of trainer Ed Dunlop in Great Britain for owner V I Araci since he began racing as a juvenile. I've always thought Native Khan a horse with a world of potential, and I also think that Ed Dunlop seemed to have always done right by him over the past 2 seasons as near as I can tell? But John Oxx is a master trainer, indeed, and has been long before he ever sprang into the attention of the world stage with Sea The Stars in 2008-09. With no disrespect at all intended to Ed Dunlop, I really feel like Oxx will be able to get that little bit extra out of Native Khan that's needed to be gotten for him to become a really solid thoroughbred. And he's not ever been a bad horse to begin with, IMO.
Everyone knows what a training genius that John Oxx is. But when he skips maiden level and goes straight to listed stakes level the way he did with Born To Sea at the Curragh today, you'd better sit up and take notice!! Especially when the horse win's as impressively as Born To Sea did today. He's the half-brother of 2009 European champion, Sea The Stars. Oxx must see something really special in this colt? Because skipping a maiden level race is something he didn't even do with Sea The Stars as a 2yr.old. I don't know if Oxx intends to race this colt anymore in 2011? But his stable is in fantastic form right now. So it wouldn't surprise me to see Born To Sea next in either the G2 Beresford Stakes at the Curragh? Or the G1 Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster?

  • medlocke · Very excited about seeing this colt race as a 3yr.old next season. John Oxx has always been very particular about picking what races he thinks his horses belong in. So when he completely bypassed a maiden level race, and dropped Born To Sea into listed stakes company his first time out, it made me take notice immediately. No way Oxx would've ran Born To Sea in listed stakes company first time out unless he felt like there was something very special about this colt. Because he didn't even do that with Sea The Stars as a 2yr.old. I love that Urban Sea bloodline he has!! She's an incredible broodmare, IMO. · 594 days ago ·

  • shores · Yes, medlocke, she and Hasili are great broodmares. I agree with you both in saying that a great trainer like Oxx must think a lot of this colt because of his chioce of race. this one could be ANOTHER superstar for Urban Sea. · 594 days ago ·
