maybe a mile is Bodemeisters distance, and the classics were just a touch to far, perhaps a drop in distances going forward and a champion miler could emerge

The third time won't be? This already exact decision?
happy baffert decided to rest bodie til the haskell, the poor horse was beggin 4 a break
There is plenty of chatter on the Interwebs about speed figures. For example, before the Preakness, we were told this may be a sub-par group of horses, but after (and after the nice Preakness fig), well, maybe not. Almost overnight this group of horses might be alright, historically.I don't blame… Read More

  • Mary Z. · I just can't compare the two or the four (Sham and Bode included) because the final quarters of this year's Derby were much slower than the '73 running. · 2 days ago ·

  • LongLiveBigRed · As in all sports, these comarisons between athletes from one era with the greats of another are speculation at best. I remember people objecting to Secretariat's nickname because "Man 'O War is the REAL Big Red." Having said that...if IHA does what I hope and wins the TC, I'll have seen 4 Triple Crown winners in my lifetime, and will still call Secretariat the greatest I've seen. But you can be a pretty damn great horse and still take a backseat to Secretariat. Go IHA! · 1 day ago ·

One thing that is for sure, is that if I’ll Have Another does not get the respect he deserves going into the 2012 Belmont, should he win, taking the Triple Crown, he should go down as one of the most respected Triple Crown winners in the history of the series.Read More

  • lynn.nely · I have respect for all the horses in the world. Think they are the greatest animal on this earth. I respect I'll Have Another although my pick was Bode. I do hope that we have a triple crown winner and expect that we will. He has the speed and the stimula to do it. This has been in the making for a very long time and I am looking so forwarded in seeing history being made again. Good Luch I'll Have Another in you races and becoming the new Triple Crown Winner. · 4 days ago ·

  • Capper · I'm leaning toward Creative Cause, with all that trouble & the wide trip, he was right there at the wire. Plus, he'll easily be triple the odds of Bodemeister/I'll Have Another. With all the love Went the Day Well is getting, he may drift up to 10-1. · 9 days ago ·

Let me get this out of the way right now … I’m not a big bettor. That probably will come as a surprise to many of you, as closely as I follow the sport, and as often as I write about it, but it’s true.
