What the Nation is saying about Bluegrass Reward...

Thirtyfirststreet, a multiple stakes winner who captured an allowance event by 6 ½ lengths at 1 1/16 miles in his last start on Jan. 12, is the 2-1 morning line choice among six runners set for the Crystal Water. Rosario rides the 4-year-old Good Journey colt who was bred by his trainer, Doug O’Neil...Read More

  • icyhotboo · I haven't looked at a form yet but if Thirtyfirststreet can run back to form just 16 days after his best effort and there is no reasone he shouldn't as a mature 4yo I believe he's the one to beat.I really don't see a bounce here as his last was merely a workout. The probable favorite Holladay Road style is ill suited for this track and line up and for me may be a toss.I am going from memory here on all these horses and my opinion might change after looking at the form.Spud Spivens and Bluegrass Reward are horses i would also give consideration to. The odds will determine the play but this is how I see the race right now.GL · 119 days ago ·

Even-money favorite Bluegrass Reward validated his support on Thursday with a decisive, wire-to-wire victory in Santa Anita’s featured $48,350 Solvang Purse for California-breds at 1 1/16 miles. With Joe Talamo in the saddle, the 3-year-old gelding finished 5 ¼ lengths ahead of runner-up Lodi Red whi...Read More
Thursday’s Pick 6 from Santa Anita Park features a carryover of more than $76,000 and the final pool should flirt with half a million dollars. Possible singles include dirt sprint lover For You My Heart (4th race), and even money feature race favorite Bluegrass Reward (exits key race, blinkers on). ...Read More
After losing the Robert B. Lewis Stakes (gr. II) an hour earlier with his 3-10 favorite Tapizar, trainer Steve Asmussen landed a nice consolation prize when Silver Medallion drove to an upset victory in the $200,000 El Camino Real Derby (gr. III) Feb. 12 at Golden Gate Fields in California.Russell B...Read More
He has the pedigree to be a factor at longer distances. Bluegrass Reward so far is the top runner for his second crop sire, who won up to 1 ¼ miles over the turf. His dam is a half-sister to a stakes placed runner. Thorn Song, a Grade 1 turf miler was produced by this female family.
It will be a battle of north versus south this Saturday at Golden Gate Fields, and you might just say there is a big opportunity that lies ahead for the winning connections. The main event is the $200,000 El Camino Real Derby and it will be run at 1 1/8 miles. Not only is this a major stepping stone...Read More

  • KyOaksRunner · I've been hearing some doubt as to wether or not Comma to the Top can get 1 1/8 miles especially in his 2011 debut, but I think he'll do fine. He's alread done a lot more than his pedigee say he should. I like the looks of Anthony's Cross and Silver Medallion as well. · 470 days ago ·

  • Captain.Don · I agree 12 clip and KYOaksRuner, I think the distance may be a problem for CTTT, especially if pressed by Jakesam. Peter Miller told me today that the horse can rate, but i don't think that will be the case. And i still consider CTTT to be from the south. It's all going to depend on how easy the early lead is for MIllers horse. · 470 days ago ·

Local favorite Positive Response took the lead on the turn for home and went on to capture Saturday's $100,000 California Derby at Golden Gate Fields. Trainer Richard Mandella said one reason he entered maiden Acaffella ($4.80) in the $52,150 Angel Island Stakes at Golden Gate Fields on Saturday was to make an assessment of where he might run him later in the year.
