What the Nation is saying about Blue Bunting...

Multiple classic winner Blue Bunting and her 2014 Dubawi filly - https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Bkn3QxqCMAAkBeH.jpg
Multiple G1 and Classic winning filly Blue Bunting will be bred to Dubawi in 2013, she was bred to Street Cry in 2012
From RacingPost.com, 2-8-2012: I'm so disappointed to be reporting that Godolphin have retired their English 1000 Guineas, Irish Oaks, and Yorkshire Oaks winning filly, Blue Bunting as of today. The story says she will be bred in the near future to Street Cry. The story didn't touch much on the question, but I wonder why the sudden decision to retire her now? Especially when all I've been reading about Blue Bunting over the past couple of months was how excited trainer Mahmood Al Zarooni was to have Blue Bunting as his #1 horse for this year's Sheema Classic. She was a terrific filly that certainly went on to scale much bigger heights than I initially ever gave her credit for.

  • ILuvTurfRacing · @footlick, I was also looking forward to seeing her race again in 2012. I was actually pretty excited about the prospect of seeing her go against older males in this year's Sheema Classic. I had initially thought that Snow Fairy was probably the only filly or mare capable of beating the boys in the Sheema? But at her best, I think Blue Bunting could've also posed a big threat to them in that race as well. · 882 days ago ·
  • footlick · I thought she was going to be a threat to the males this year too. · 882 days ago ·
It was disappointing news when I had read that Snow Fairy wasn't going to be making the trip to Dubai for this year's G1 Sheema Classic because of the injury sustained at Sha Tin just prior to the running of the Hong Kong Vase. I love a competitive filly that's able to compete with the boys. That said, with Snow Fairy out, if there's another filly being pointed for the Sheema Classic that may still fit that bill, I think it's definitely Blue Bunting!! She's beaten the best of the best 3yr.old fillies in Europe in both the G1 English 1000 Guineas and the G1 Irish Oaks, and beat some of the top older fillies and mares in the G1 Yorkshire Oaks. Her only start to date against the boys was in the G1 St. Leger at Doncaster, where she ended up a disappointing 6th that day. But I don't really think it was that she was facing basically an all male field in the St. Leger as much as I don't think she stayed the extra 1/4 mile from 1-1/2 to 1-3/4 in the St. Leger. Dropping back down in trip to 1-1/2 again in the Sheema Classic, this filly could certainly have a big say in the race this year, IMO. Blue Bunting's biggest obstacle to overcome in the Sheema Classic in my view would be if the Japanese Triple Crown and Arima Kinen winner, Orferve's, connection's decide to race him in the Sheema Classic instead of the Dubai World Cup? I'm sure there's a horse anywhere in the world right now, male or female, that could beat Orfevre at 1-1/2 on turf? I'll know about how I feel about Blue Bunting's chances in the Sheema Classic after I see her run on "Super Tuesday" at the Dubai Carnival in the G2 Dubai City Gold!!
Harmonious, a two-time Grade 1 winner, will start in the $2 million Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf at Churchill Downs on Nov. 4, but the three-time Group 1 winner Blue Bunting will not make the trip from Europe. Those developments add a longshot closer to the Filly and Mare Turf, but deny the rac...Read More

  • medlocke · @woodbinemile, At their best, I think both Immortal Verse and Dick Turpin are really good turf milers. But Frankel's really in a category all his own. I think Immortal Verse is likely to find out the hard way that beating Goldikova over a mile like she did in the Prix Jacques Le Marois is a different proposition altogether than trying to beat to Frankel over a mile? Sir Michael Stoute, trainer of favourite Sea Moon has concerns that the persistent dry weather in North England might hurt his colt's chances in the final Classic of the season:  Ladbrokes St Leger Stakes (Group 1) for three-year old fillies or entire colts (meaning no geldings), 1m6f132yd...Read More
BLUE BUNTING won a third Group 1 and a first against older horses with a gutsy effort on the Knavesmire to fend off the persistent challenge of the Sir Henry Cecil-trained Vita Nova. The dual Classic winner was sent off the 11-4 favourite and was subsequently cut into 6-1 second favourite for more Cl...Read More
  • medlocke · This was a great race!! A real duel in the final furlong between English 1000 Guineas and Irish Oaks winner, Blue Bunting. And Henry Cecil's lightly raced 4yr.old daughter of Galileo, Vita Nova. Wonder of Wonders also ran a very respectable 3rd in this race. Vita Nova really went down fighting. I thought she ran an incredible race given that this was her first ever start in G1 company, and only her 6th career start. Godolphin have to be over the moon about how Blue Bunting has performed for the stable this season. I would imagine. Ironic how fate is. Because I really wonder if we would've even seen Blue Bunting in the Epsom, Irish, or Yorkshire Oaks had Godolphin's star 2yr.old filly from 2010, White Moonstone, stayed healthy? · 1056 days ago ·
The Yorkshire Ebor Festival continues at York Racecourse on Thursday featuring the Group 1 Darley Yorkshire Oaks for fillies and mares over 1½ miles. • Rossington · Even with the defection of Snow Fairy out of Thursday's G1 Yorkshire Oaks, it's still reads a quite a deep a field, indeed. The cream of the crop among the 3yr.old fillies, who have battled each other from Epsom to the Curragh, and now on to York are all entered. Blue Bunting, Banimpire, Wonder of Wonders, and Laughing Lashes. All very talented 3yr.old fillies. All capable of winning this race if at their best? There's also still some depth among the older mares as well. The Sire Michael Stoute trained, Crystal Capella. Who thrashed Redwood at Newmarket in the G2 Princess of Wales Stakes, and finished a very respectable 4th behind Midday in the G1 Nassau Stakes at Goodwood. Also, a filly certainly not to be overlooked is the Sir Henry Cecil trained, Vita Nova. Put into this race after Midday ended up going in the Juddmonte International Stakes today against the boys. Vita Nova is lightly raced, but has 3 win's and 2 place efforts in only 5 lifetime starts. Including back to back 2nd place finishes at Haydock behind Ferdoos in the listed Pinnacle Stakes, and behind Gertrude Belle in the G2 Lancashire Oaks. Vita Nova is the 4yr.old daughter of none other than the great sire himself, Galileo!! She's certainly one to keep an eye out for in this race, IMO. · 1057 days ago ·

  • medlocke · I'd imagine that Godolphin have to be awfully pleased, and maybe even a little surprised, that Blue Bunting has won both the English 1000 Guineas and the Irish Oaks for the stable this season. The surprise being that White Moonstone was thought to be the stable's top juvenile filly in 2010, and she's yet to even see a racetrack this season. · 1087 days ago ·
