William Hill rates defending champ Zenyatta and Preakness and Haskell winner Lookin At Lucky as 4-1 co-favorites for the Breeders' Cup Classic as the British bookmakers opened for Cup business on Tuesday. Hill offers Whitney winner Blame at 6-1, with Whitney runner-up Quality Road at 8-1, followed b...Read More

  • mdracing69 · bob46, have you ever considered that Zenyatta is not ducking the competition. Rather, the quality female horses across the country have no interest in running against the win machine. It is not like Zenyatta is running in restricted races. She showed up in the G1 Apple Blossom on dirt. Where was the real competition? Possibly running scared? · 3 days ago
  • zenyatta02 · bob46, maybe you should get some reality into your life. This year has been the worst crop of 3yo for as long as I've been watching horse racing. mdracing69 is right. The real competition that hasn't been showing up to Zenyatta's races are running scared because she's just that good. · 1 days ago
Zenyatta once again tops Horse Racing Nation's Fan Power Rankings with Quality Road and Blame were second and third. Blame, winner of the Grade 1 Whitney on August 7, returned to the work tab for the first time since his upset of Quality Road, going an easy half-mile in 50.61 on the Oklahoma training track.   “I was going to work him tomorrow [Friday], but he was showing me that he was ready; he had too much...Read More
We’re a bit more than halfway through the 2010 Saratoga meet with 22 of 40 days in the books.  Now’s a good time to look back at some of the best of what we’ve seen and also the worst.  Here are my thoughts: BEST Trainer – Even if he goes winless over the next 18 days (and that’s unlikely)...Read More
The Breeders' Cup calls itself a world championship event. That's a little hyperbolic, of course, but certainly this year's top honor for North American racing, Horse of the Year, will go down to the wire at Churchill Downs. And at this point, four horses stand out in the race for that distinction.....Read More
Trainer Derek Ryan had some harsh words about Saturday's Whitney Handicap, where Blame upset heavily favored Quality Road by a head.Ryan's runner, Musket Man, finished third, beaten just a length-and-three-quarters after pressing the pace set by Quality Road.A good effort, but it could have been bet...Read More

  • blindadosalas · Mike, dear friend I can assure you that I've looked up the race six times, including the first, which I saw in person at a sports book in Caracas, until I saw that Haynesfield hits his door in the starting gate, I can assure you also that not have happened this mishap, Haynesfield out another, and another had been the result. Tell Mr. Ryan might not be as fussy and if you want to go further than what good has achieved in his career, to look for Bob Baffert or go to the grave of Sunny Jim Fitzsimmons Thanks .... PS: The worst hockey I've seen in my life is called Pat Valenzuela, I leave you there, buddy. · 27 days ago
  • blindadosalas · Seem like you are a gambler that is breathing thru a painfull lost, horse that can brake or hit the gate doors usually do not start good even though look fine to the vet behind the gate. Do not start good and perform poorly..... · 27 days ago
Blame gets Quality Road in an amazing performance! Now who's better? This was on a slow pace going 9 furlongs at Saratoga. In the Classic, there will be a fast pace, 10 furlongs, and Churchill's long stretch. With that scenario, Blame would beat QR by 5.

  • humphrey · Steve Haskin writes in todays Blood Horse that he thinks the braided fore lock smacking him in the face near his eye may be an issue. Who knows? However on my photo site on sunday I noted that all my photos of Quality Road during the race show that his right eye appears to be irritated. Is that forelock akin to a whip smacking the horse in the face? I don't know but it may explain his extremely short stride down the stretch which came after pedestrian fractions. It may be nothing or it could be information that is valuable next time he races if they trim it.or push it up through the bridle. · 28 days ago
  • lgw12002 · This was by far Blames best race and fastest time at this distance however this was probably Quality Road's worst race at this distance 1:48 and change compared to 1:47 and change Blame would be about a second behind. I don't know why QR had such slow splits but maybe the jockey was a little over confident. · 28 days ago
With his game victory in the Grade 1 Whitney Stakes, Blame widened and deepened the breeder base that will support him when the colt goes to stud at Claiborne Farm, which is the co-owner and co-breeder of the 4-year-old with Adele Dilschneider. By the Claiborne stallion Arch, Blame (click ...Read More
Though the unexpected tends to interject itself often in this game, it appears possible, if all the cards fall face-up, that there is a momentum of potential building toward yet another season-ending Horse of the Year controversy in which Zenyatta is one of the central figures. As was the case at the...Read More

The Queen of American Racing, Zenyatta, proved once again, why she is one of the best- of- all- time racemares  that we have ever seen. Asked to "go" a little bit sooner than usual, she responded by another convincing win over a hard trying Rinterval in the Gr. 1 Clement Hirsch at Del Mar....Read More

Saturday’s Whitney Handicap is by far the most exciting race of the year thus far. • cugel the clever · MM is the only horse in the field with even a remote chance of beating QR, but I stress REMOTE. I watched the videos again of QR's Donn and MetMile races. Track record in the Donn and the 2nd fastest Met in 111 years after a layoff of 3 months. They could have run once more around the track and MM wasn't going to catch him. QR's a monster. Blame's from the clouds stretch run works against inferior horses but he's never seen the likes of QR (or even MM) before. · 33 days ago
Todd Pletcher, trainer of Quality Road (No. 3): “That [post] is perfect. This is not a knock whatsoever at Quality Road. Because I think Quality Road is absolutely one of the best horses in America. But I also think Blame is one of the best horses in America as well. Take the time to compare the horses that Quality Road has raced against, and then look at the list of horses that Blame has raced against. From top to bottom, Blame has raced much tougher competition than Quality Road, overall. That's why I believe Blame has a very real possibility of beating Quality Road at Saratoga in the Whitney Handicap. Think back for a minute to Quality Road's last race in the Met Mile. Musket Man was really flying at Quality Road late, and closed a lot of ground on him. Imagine if that had been Blame flying at Quality Road, If it had been Blame, Quality Road could've potentially been in a lot trouble in the Met Mile. Just take a look again at the Stephen Foster Handicap. The way Blame burst out of the pack to run down an excellent colt in Battle Plan that was out on the lead. For Quality Road to beat Blame in the Whitney, he's going to have to run the best race he' s ran so far in his career, IMO. It should end up being a real test of wills at Saratoga on Saturday.
  • mike · youre talking about Blame running down Quality Road in the Met... Blame hasnT come near running the speed figures Quality Road or Musket man have run... I think youre fascination with Blame is truly youre liking for the horse but in reality he better run alot faster than he has if he is to be considered a factor against Quality Road or Musket Man if his connections decide to go.... Speed figure wise Blame doesnt compare to either of those two.... · 36 days ago
  • tpatelzick · Sound similar to what we heard this week with Trap Shot trying to beat Lookin at Lucky. Remember to be considered the best you need to beat the "Big Dogs" and you cant do that sittin on the porch. Blame is a very talented. I hope they both show up with their A game, it should be a hell of a race. Im just glad to see some of the top quality horses are starting to face each other in some Grade 1 races. Now all we need is Rachael and Zen to meet up and we can settle all of the disputes. · 36 days ago
Blame, winner of the Grade 1 Stephen Foster, also worked Sunday morning for the Whitney, going an easy half-mile under jockey Garrett Gomez.
